Simple question, do you believe in the Scent-Lok/Scent Blocker clothing concept??

I know this has been beat up and down like no other I am just wondering what answers a poll would provide!??

Also if you have any stories/info to back up your opinion please share!!

just felt like opening a can of worms didn't ya???

personally I like the principle, unsure of its effectiveness, and the cost is high... but if someone somehow could provide some kind of real quantifiable test data I would be swayed...

edit to add - I don't own any at this point for the reasons above

don't use - and don't plan on it...biggest reason being I haven't bought Camo in forever because I love what I have - everything else is given as gifts. I enjoy playing the wind...and seems to working fine...

I don't believe in its claims, but wouldn't be past wearing it...provided I got a good deal on it. It is good quality gear at the very least, regardless of its scent controlling capabilities...So if I found a steal on some I would wear it.

    Believe in it's claims? Nope.
Pay sticker price for it? Nope.
Wear it for the right price? In a heartbeat.

I definitely venture into the woods without it, but yes... I do own some.

I would wear it if I could afford it. The stuff I have seen is usually good quality gear even without the scent lok ability. My gear consists of a camo coat and some camo sweats that fit over anything else I want to wear. Oh, and a pair of good quality boots. I won't scrimp on foot wear. That said I have arrowed a deer from my stand wearing a brite white tee shirt and jeans because I decided to go after work. I was also covered in stamping oil as it was 30 minutes from work to the stand, or 1 hour to go home and shower first. I would love to be able to put the time and cost into doing a comparison though. I think it would be interesting.

I am not against owning some, but as far as the claims that it eliminates your scent, not a big believer in that. Now may it reduce it slightly, maybe....but I am more into having something more functional to keep me out in various elements (light rain, cold, etc).

I personally own some Scent Blocker stuff. It is some really well made gear. Does it do everything it says? I don't know, but I'm happy with the quality of it.

Ive thought about buying it but I just cant see myself spending $200+ on clothes that may or may not work. If it was a sure thing that the deer would never smell you, then yea Id probably wear it. But with the claims and prices they have now Ill just stick with the wind in my face technique.

I don't believe in scent "elimination" but rather it helps maybe reduce your scent. I've been very close to deer that were down wind & they didn't bust me. Granted, I only own the base layers that I where under the other stuff. I think that every little bit helps in trying to keep them at bay. If you don't believe in the suits, what about all the other gimicks out there, soap, shampoo, wipes, laundry detergent, etc. how many people use that stuff & think it works. What other stuff do we people use to "control" their scent.

Here's a story you might find interesting. A co-workers dad was going out hunting, and had placed his hand on a fence post to steady himself while crossing over. a few hours later, he witnessed from his stand a deer approaching that same post and stop dead when he got to it. He appeared to smell the area and then backed right up and turned around. So obviously the oils in his hand probably remained on the post, but would washing it remove the oils, or at least temporarily do so. what about when we "wash" ourselves is "de-scenting" soap, is it still effective after walking to our stands? what about possibly creating a little sweat bead on the forehead, does that now make the whole washing thing obsolete? just questions.

It might help a bit but if your mouth smells like ****, your camo aint gonna do diddly. I would rather chew on Chlorophyll for breakfast, lunch and dinner and not rely on the clothing.

Back In the day I used the Scent Lock clothing for bear, deer and elk hunting and not once did It convince me It was doing a thing to hide my scent like advertised. I didn't hunt any different with It on meaning I still played the wind like I would any other time but It didn't matter a bit, got busted/smelled just as much with It on so that was enough to convince me that It was far from advertised.

Jeff actually said it best a long time ago IMO .... if it helps a little ... just a little .. then it's not totally useless .... so if guys like it, kudos to them ...if others don't...kudos to them ...

I personally don't use it anymore ... but if someone gave me some, or I got a great deal on it, I would wear it as it DOESN'T Hurt ..

Hunting the wind is key, nothing will ever make you 100% scent-free IMO...its science really, you would ahbe to seal off all skin and breathing...not possible

Does it help, maybe a little, but a deer's nose wont be fooled by some carbon layering

I got a Sent Blocker jacket for Christmas last year. I wore it and plan on wearing it this season. Does it give me an edge?.......I like to think it does. I always plan on hunting the wind the best I can
