That "him" is my grandmother's brother.... I found out today that he filled his PA bull elk tag yesterday morning....he shot a droptine 8X8, I don't have pics yet but from what my grandfather said, this thing is ridiculous.

A little back story about my grandmothers brother, he is strictly a rifle hunter, never puts in much work at all, he shoots outstanding animals for the areas he hunts every year. He had a stretch here in PA a few years ago where he would walk 50 yards out of his backdoor to a powerline on the first day of rifle season and in a 3 year span he shot two 10pts that were over 20" wide (140"-150" range) and a 8 point that was 19" wide (135" range). The year before last he drew a bull elk tag in Colorado and shot a very nice 6X6, he also has a 32" wide 4X4 mule deer and a B&C pronghorn on his wall. The piles of whitetail and mule deer antlers that he has is just insane.

I wish that I had his luck, I am sick of spending over 100 hours a year in my treestand just to pass up every 60"-90" buck in PA.

I'll post pics of his elk when I get them.

Tim, the stories about this guy and his hunting and fishing adventures is enough to turn anybody green with envy....13lb walleye from a Canadian lake where your normal walleye is 15".... 44" northern pike from Canada from a lake where a 35"r is a trophy....heck, sighting in his 30-06 for his PA elk hunt was an adventure.....apparently while doing so, he shot 3 rounds of 25-06 before he realized he had grabbed the wrong ammo.

I truly believe some people have better luck than others. There's no other explanation for it.

You don't even know how much I can relate to this story. My uncle hunts on average, about 3 hrs each season. He only rifle hunts, and fires his rifle once each year (just to shoot his buck). He doesn't scout, practice scent control, heck he even walks to his stand when it's getting light out. Almost every year, he pops a big 8 or 10 (has so many under his belt, I've lost count). In years past, he even has the nerve to say how he doesn't even really like shooting them, because after the fact, "it's all work."

His luck isn't just limited to our property either. His first year joining out hunting club, he decided to hunt there on PA's opener. He drew number 19 or so out of 25, and when it cam time to pick his stand, he let me do it for him. The next day, NO ONE, out of 25 hunters on on the property saw anything, except my uncle who shot a nine point, saw two bears, and a flock of turkeys. It's unbelievable.

Me, on the other hand, worst hunter and worst luck ever. I mean who sees 11 different doe in on evening in November, but not a single buck trailing?:(

You should spend at least 10 of your 100 hours on that powerline! I'd be more jealous of that Colorado elk than the PA one. The PA ones are dumb

Chalk another one up. Brother in law shot an 8 tonight. Had to be like his 3rd sit all season...lol. Happy for him, but man, really makes hunting as much as I do look pointless.
