Shoot as many bows as you can and pick the one that you like the best. You can get all the opinions you want but you are the one that will be shooting the bow. I shopped a long time before I bought my new bow and I bought some used ones during that time.
Do not overlook the Mathews family of Bows. Mission, Z series, Monster series. You have to find a dealer in your area though. And Let the Bow pick you.
Aside from a hoyt element, you should be pretty good on just about anything you buy then. Ask yourself this: 1. What do you want the bow to do? (For me, it is hunting first, and target/play second) 2. What size do I want? (I wanted the reasonably smallest) 3. How good of a shooter am I? - Larger brace height bows are more forgiving (Be honest, I was a novice at best, probably more of a rookie) 4. What kind of speed do I want? (Obviously the fastest) By the time I got those out of the way, I had it pretty much narrowed down. I wanted a bow that was under 32 inch axle to axle, had a larger brace height, great speed and a hunters dream. For me it was very close to the maxxis 31 and z7 xtreme but I just thought the z7x was a bit more smooth after the shot. I was also eyeing the invasion as it is short, but bowtechs just don't feel good to me. There are tons of companies. TONS. Get a bow to meet your needs and fits you as a shooter. I absolutely love my Mathews.
I am going to put in my vote for ELITE!!! The new bows....The Pure, Pulse, and Hunter are out of this world!!! I am still kinda partial to my good ole GT500.... If your in the market for a smooth drawing very fastttt shootingggg bow check out the mathews z7 extreme.
That's awesome. Pretty different but sounds fun. That said I know nothing of what the characteristics of a good waterfowl hunting bow. Keep going through the questions and shoot all that are in your criteria. Of course everyone will plug the brand they're shooting, like I still recommend Mathews. Good luck man. Its a fun process for sure. Just make you sure make the most educated decision possible but it looks like you already know that portion.
My Hoyt Rampage XT is a sweet bow and very comfortable to shoot. It is comparable to the Hoyt 32 but the risers are made of different materials so the Rampage XT is a great bow at a great price. Give it a shot (lol)
I think for the best bang for your buck i would go Diamond or Bear. Hoyt and Mathews are the top of the line dont get me wrong but for a real good dependable cheaper than most name brand bow those two are your best bet..
I am new to bowhunting, I went to my local pro shop and ended up with a Mission Endeavor, bow with accessories out the door for 525. I have been very happy with it.
I have shot a hoyt bow that i liked alot and that was the hoyt vtec. Not a bad bow and very light in my hands you should check the hoyt line up out or even the mathews.
I used to be a PSE Man, but went to a shop recently and shot a few Mathews and Hoyt models and fell in love. I liked the Mathews feel a tad bit better, but I liked the Hoyt look and style and will end up going with the Hoyt Rampage XT. Great bow for the price.
z7extreme try the z7extreme i just bought mine and it is my first mathews. i have always been a bowtech guy but really like the mathews.
