I have used a Bowtech Admiral since 2009 and its been great to me. Ive drived 5 deer and several smaller game to include turkey with it but I am starting to see its limitations as well. I know I can still drop deer with it but I am also starting to feel like its time for an upgrade. Is it worth going out and getting a more modern bow now or is it better to wait it out for now? From what I here this has been one of the best years for new flagship bow releases.

I guess a better way to ask my question is should I go for a new bow this year or spend my money elsewhere?

It sounds like you WANT a new bow. If you have doubts about your equipment and have the cash, go buy a new rig and you won't have those doubts. For the record the Admiral is still as capable as any of killing deer.

I'm not sure what "limitations" this bow has, so unless something is mechanically wrong with it or it doesn't fit you well, you're not going to see a huge advantage in a new bow. Sure you'll probably find a little more speed and a little less hand shock with a new rig, but it won't be any more or less capable of killing a deer than your Admiral. If you get a new bow, it'll just be because you want one. And well maybe that's reason enough to get a new bow!

The sky is the limit if you have the money for a flagship bow

Go shoot the new bows.......I doubt you will find anything mind blowing compared to your bow which is sweet (I gave mine to my brother rather then ditch it).

If you do buy it.......that's what I did and it took me from a 2003 SC Patriot all the way until the Destroyer 350 to see it as an "upgrade".

New bow technology has been on a plateau for many years now.

Its sounds to me like you really want to get a new bow. Go for it, but keep your Bowtech as your back up bow. If you feel its time for an upgrade, than it probably is my friend! Best of luck..GROMMEL.

I'm buying a new bow this year. 2007/8 was the last time I bought one. I sold my marquis, but keeping my commander.

I shoot a 2009 Sentinel, same as the Admiral only longer. With that said, you do not NEED a new bow, what you have now is still a great bow. Now, if you have a grand or more burning a hole in your pocket, and really WANT a new bow......Well that's your call.

Im in the same boat.... 2009 Ross/Bowtech Carnivore... Got it just as bowtech was trying to get everything from them. It still shoots ok, i dont shoot as much as some most here, or as much as i should. Im tossed around looking into new bows but it still shoots better than me. Im going to go with it another year or two and then go from there. Upgrading the rest this year and maybe a sight this year, but more than likely the next and everything will be ready to go when i do upgrade.

upgrade when your ready and able... If you still think your bow will do the job, i wouldnt spend the money.

I have shot a lot of Bowtechs and owned a few. To be honest if you shoot well with it maybe better off with it. The Admiral and Guardian was the beginning of the center pivot bows. The only thing the Admiral lacked was speed compared to the newer models. The Admiral has a heavier riser but this could be more advantageous than the newer models. The Admirals cam will draw more smoothly as well. If need more speed the Experience would be a nice upgrade. I used to have an Invasion and draw cycle was rough. I almost got me an Experience but once I started shooting the new Elites I was hooked. Your Admiral already has a smooth draw cycle so ask yourself what and why do I need an upgrade and then decide. For me I wanted that smooth cam with great holdover. If you decide to upgrade you should try out the E32 or E35 if there is an Elite dealer near you.
