I was really enjoying MOST of the convo on that thread ... oh well .... anytime you ask for thoughts, people start acting like theirs are the only right ones ... then it turns into a thread
Way to go, PT. Maybe the topic of your next thread can be something a little more civil...like "Which political party are you, republican or democrat, and why?"
Vito had a whole thread about dongs and didn't get it locked. Go figure. I'm kind of sad the other thread got locked. I had created a score sheet on 'pride scoring' for whitetails. It standardized the criteria on how proud anybody should be of their deer. :D
While that thread never got totally out of hand, there is only so much we will allow here. We set a precedent with the moderation here that flaming, and personal insults will not be accepted. This place has a "home" feeling to it, and we intend to keep it that way. Debate is good and encouraged... Going past that point is not.
It all happens when guys don't give others the ability to think differently than them .... I don't understand how some peeps think, and I might ask questions to at least ry and see where they are coming from, but to just say, "This is what I believe and your a moron if you think different" makes that guy look like the moron .... And then I love watching how people read into simple statements ... that kills me .... I heard that I was accusing someone of something in that thread ... I never even thought of it ..... perception is a lot of people's reality, sadly
Very good points Scott. Let me also say that I locked it because I knew where it was going from there. Once a thread reaches that point, there is no turning back. No reason to let it get more out of hand.
I didn't know we had so many bowhunting "know-it-alls" until I read that thread. Some seem a little too almighty.
Its the internet. A lot of people take on a totally different personality when they log in. Its easy to flex, when no one is looking.
