Vitos chicken just might have meet his match with this.... The White House has sought to avoid prejudging what Biden's recommendations would be. But the vice president hinted Wednesday that executive action -- action by the president in which Congress would not have a say -- would indeed be involved. "There are executive orders, executive action that can be taken," Biden said, adding "we haven't decided what that is yet." For gun owners the sky just might be falling.
Do I feel we're gonna see some gun restrictions...yes...but I'll be honest I feel percentages and facts are on the side of gun owners and we hopefully won't have a complete semi-auto ban (including handguns, 10/22s and some shotguns). We'll see though, I'm hoping for just stiffer background checking, transfers of weapons made mandatory and perhaps gun shows restricted some...to me that is all understandable...where a ban of any kind of weapon only makes criminals able to have them and increases the black market of guns more.
John, That kinda freaked me out as well when I heard that Biden said that. Time will tell what will happen!
The President's executive order power is limited. It is expected to possibly used for things like making it more difficult for the mentally ill to buy guns and strengthening back ground checks for gun purchases. There isn't much beyond that which Obama could do without congressional approval.
Could you please tell that to Barry O and Biden, because I'm not sure they fully understand the role of the three branches of government.
Might as well add shotguns to the list, it's definitely not the people behind the guns http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/201...cher-supervisor-end-high-school-shooting?lite
It is a mental health issue and the government is ignoring it. http://mobile.wnd.com/2013/01/the-giant-gaping-hole-in-sandy-hook-reporting/
After listening to Joe Biden I'm sure its a mental health issue and he certianly should not be allowed to own a gun of any kind.
This is for 2011, I'm sure it will take some time to compile the 2012 stats. It breaks down the murder by state/WDC into categories of weapon type. Straight from the FBI so I'm sure it is somewhat reliable http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/table-20
The thing I find most interesting about this is for IL. For 2011, IL had 452 murders with a footnote for limited supplemental data included. There were 433 murders in Chicago. Simple math tells you that is 95.8% of the states muders of which 377 or 83.4% of them were with firearms. Of those 377 firearm murders 361 or once again 95.8% of those murders occured in Chicago. Pretty telling stats for how well Chicago's gun control measures are working. These murder numbers are from Chicago PD's own release and the FBI link provided above. https://portal.chicagopolice.org/po...s/Statistical Reports/Murder Reports/MA11.pdf
It should be noted that guns were illegal in Chicago until immediately before the time period referenced in that data set. Sure sounds like the gun ban worked wonders. Actually, I hope whatever they do, they do use Executive Orders. Much easier to get thrown out in the Federal Courts, and if not thrown out, they can be rescinded by a new president immediately upon being sworn in, in 4 years' time.
So a "might be" kills the chicken? I don't think so, sir. The chicken thrives on maybes. Don't make me post him... You know I'll do it.
