I don't mean to bore y'all, but I think this traditional shooitng thing finally "clicked" for me. The past 3-4 years has been an up & down ride. At times I'd shoot great and gain confidence, but then get caught in a tailspin and look like I'd never picked up a bow. Over the winter I worked at blank bailing, nothing cazy, but wanted to keep a smooth release & build up my muscles more. My shooting this spring has been nothing but optimistic. I've shot well, pretty much every time out, and from the 1st arrow. The biggest noticeable change to my shooting sequence is holding at full draw, and "aiming" then. In the past I'd have to "aim" the entire time I was drawng back, keeping my bow up & on target, very slowly, then the moment I hit anchor the arrow was gone. Now I can pretty much draw back whether my bow is up/down whatever, settle in to my anchor, focus once I am there, THEN release the arrow. It seems to be working out great for me. Next to no flyers, maybe a low shot here & there after changing up distance. I hope it lasts. Many of my shooting sessions I cut short while I am shooting good so I can stop before it goes bad.
That's gotta be a great feeling I bet Ryan!! What ever works for you Is what you should go with. Keep It up and before you know It you'll have yourself a traditional kill. Happy for ya!!!
glad you figured it out. shooting can get frustrating at times, but just remember that everyone has bad or off days, or bad or off shots..... it happens. keep practicing, focus on your target and nail em
Sounds like you've got it figured out. Everyone has bad days, when that happens remember to stick to what you just described as how you shoot.. Don't start experimenting, you already know what works just make sure that's still how you're doing it. Usually, I find I'm doing something different.
