I use to do the same thing and when it was a must time to be out there, I was to tried. Now I concentrate on the pre-rut, chasing phase from Oct 31 to Nov 10. I have been out for three days straight and feel fine and have really not seen to much but in my area thing start to rock n roll on Nov 4. So taking off tomorrow and going to do a six day stretch. Well anyway take a day off and get back out there. Good luck.

Get it back together again there Rick!! We're counting on you to slam a toad next week. It only takes 10 seconds but you've got to be there for the right 10 seconds! Hang tough.

I'm starting to get a little bit of that feeling myself. Happens every year, usually towards the end of the season. I have put in countless sits already and have only seen a few deer, and just one buck. NOTHING has come within 40-45 yards even after I've watched them for over an hour just milling around. I started getting sick cause I was up at 4:45 every morning and sitting in the rain/snow. Just took a couple days off before I head up to Maine to hunt for the next 8 days. Taking a few days off always does the trick! after 3-4 days you keep thinking about whats going on out there when youre not around and you cannot wait to get back out. This is what makes it soo great when it finally does happen though. GOOD LUCK!

Yes it can be very tough on a person. Sucha big part of hunting is the mental battle. You have to battle yourself mentally and the deer mentally. It can drive me absolutely crazy. You sit one spot, then walk home and see tracks crossing in front of your other spot. What really gets to me is finding a scrape or rub in the middle of the day right on the path I walked on an hour earlier.

I am right there with you. Although I have taken 2 does this year so far I have not saw a antlered buck from stand or even a doe since. I know it's a matter of time and the spot I am in is a funnel and is only a travel corridor. It does not hold deer but ever year a few good ones show up. Keep reading the threads and like me select your days until movement picks up.

I got that way this year, so I slept in last Sunday and didn't go last Sunday night. Guess what? My hunting buddy shot a seven point on the same property. you have to be in there to have a chance.

i was feeling the same way and getting pretty worn out waking up every morning to not see a deer. Im spoiled cause i used to hunt an urban apple orchard and last year i remember 18 deer underneath my stand.. this year i went to the outback thick stuff where the deer are few and far between but the bucks are better quality. Didnt know if id hunt in the morning till saturday but my buddy just whacked a nice 8 point so now im pumped and ready to show off my own rack. Gotta keep hunting hard cause the rest of the year you would kill to get in a deer stand. keep that in mind boys!

ALL of Illinois the way it sounds is having a hard time! I am in Central IL and it has been really rough! I am ready to bust one too and I started sitting longer and still nothing. I think I will be taking today off seeing the RED and YELLOW on the radar heading right at me! It looks that the afternoon hunt might be ok. We will see. You will get back into it. Just a matter of time when the deer are running all day. Good luck and just remember you are not the only one right now that is having this issue. Keep at it.

I feel your pain Rick, take a few days off. Ive sat 46 sits so far, including driving to Illinois (32 hours driving) been seeing some deer but havent even pulled my bow back except on 2 Does earlier this year, passed on a few 3 year olds, for now, probly regret that later. I too am getting burned out, I slept in this morning, going to go out around 10 and sit the rest of the day.

Isnt it funny how things work out. We both hunt Central IL and you have had a terrible start and I have had more close encounters with mature bucks than the last 3 combined. Hang in there, its about to get good everywhere!

I understand. Today is the best weather day we've had. Cold and drizzle, when it's been hot and windy. I'm not out though... I think my 4 hour roundtrip drive has something to do with my... burned outness. Even feeling this way, I'd still be out if it wasn't so far of a drive. The weather and the time of year....
