With somewhere around 20 sits and only seeing 4 deer I think I'm getting burned out just in time for the rut and vacation all next week. Maybe if I take the next three days off from hunting I will be back in the swing of things, that and reading all the BBD threads should motivate me more. At least that's what I'm hoping.

Take a few days off buddy. I get that worn out feeling once or twice a season, taking a couple days off seems to help. Goodluck with the rest of your season.

Rick, I agree with Dave .... take a few days off ... you gotta not be out there to want to be out there sometimes ...

I think seeing a bunch of bucks chasing a doe out of no where would also get rid of that feeling. These next couple of weeks are what we wait all year for. Good luck I hope things heat up for you.

    This.

I wouldn't say I'm burnt out at this point, just frustrated at the high number of does I'm seeing with no buck chasing or pursuing. It's the best time of the year right now, so I know it only takes one minute to change the whole season, so that's what keeps me plugging away.

It is a struggle to make it into the woods during a season where you aren't seeing any deer. That has been my difficulty. I just keep hoping something gives & i start seeing them.

I have sat every evening and mornings when I can since October 16 and have been seeing deer on a consistent basis; IMHO I would take like 3 or 4 days off then you will get really pumped to head back out in the stand.

When you don't see deer you always start feeling burned out or second guessing what you are doing. That makes getting out there a little tough. But, if you don't go out there you most certainly won't see deer. I know what you are feeling and I go through the same thing but I keep on getting out there. If nothing else I use the time to and from the stand sites to "scout" some and look for possible new stand sites. I think a lot of movement has been at night lately, at least here in southern MD but I have also seen the signs that the movement during daylight is starting to pick up, which makes sense.

I'm struggling too man. I've got a new job and work 60+ hrs a week. The few days off I've had to hunt, always seem to be the warm days here lately. I've killed a deer, so that's a plus, but I've seen 2 bucks this year. That's it. One was a spike, one was a fork. Generally by this time of year, I've seen 3 or 4 bucks 130" or bigger. I'm frustrated, but not burnt out.

It takes time especially this time of the year, as i expected i new the deer movement i had on my cams by my stand in the summer would come to a hault this fall as it did, i went from seeing 15 deer a day to zero so i spent all last weekend sot and stalking and it paid off i found them and i set up two home made ground blinds.....thats what I'm resorting to this weekend

Hey brother I too feel your frustration. There has been so many different dates thrown at me for the rut that my head is spinning. I hunt in Dane County, WI and too have only seen four deer with all of my sits over the past month. I have taken a break myself and am hoping when I go back I see a little more action than what I've been seeing.

Its funny to read this this morning. I went out for a "quick" early morning hunt today. I have been out 4 times to the same place. The first day we saw deer everywhere. My buddy even took a nice size doe about a hour out our first day. We have been back on and off and always see deer or at least hear them. Even saw a nice buck the other day. LOTS OF TRAILS AND RUBS! They for sure are out there. Today nothing. Not a sound. So I was hoping we haven't hunted to hard out there. But I don't think 4 times in a 3 week period is really "hunting hard". Any day now im thinking. I plan on spending all day Sat out... don't get burned. Always use each time you go out a lesson or a chance to do some quick scouting. So far here in IL its been a BAD season. It will get better..:deer:

I feel ya, 16 sits here. I've only seen two deer, only one in range, the doe that I shot.

I'm taking today off, then I'm hitting it hard again. 15 seconds in my favor, that's all I need :tu:

Maybe try going for a drive to see if you can see some deer moving. I've been driving around with work and starting to see some bucks. One buck this morning cruising in a wide open field about 8:30. This gets me excited. Especially when I can't hunt until Friday.

Hang in there guys (no pun intended), because now is when you want to be in the woods... everything up til now was a prelude... and although it gets time consuming and tough, we need to be in trees or blinds watching, scouting, waiting... for this time of year. I'm missing it sooooo much this year... it's killing me so remember, it could be worse... good luck guys...

    I feel ya.

I'm in the exact same boat and I have a 22' flats boats sitting in the water at the end of my street that I have to drive by as I head up 4 hours to hunt:( I tell my friends " the more time I spend hunting, the more I like fishing:)".

But I'm no quiter:) Going back to the wood this weekend.
