Holy smokes....I have NO doubt this stuff is amazing from the people backing it and the price quoted....but this poor boy will stick to Scentlok for now. Can't justify this much...maybe for a base or mid layering but that would be it.
My puffy gets used a lot. Love that thing. Not sure where you hunt but thus far I haven't had temps demanding the Sanctuary. About sizing First Lite is very true to size and the layering system is sized and cut for just that. Layering. So you can say order all large tops and not have to worry about having three layers under the coat because the coat is cut and sized to allow for that. About the lab... I do not have that piece yet. I have Allegheny, Halstead, and both the Chama hoody and Chama QZ. North Branch, Sanctuary and Stormtight jackets as well as the puffy jacket and vest as far as tops are concerned.... Probably add the Springer Vest next and a couple more pair of boxers
Almost all of my "office clothes" are Columbia and Grammicci. Big fan of Columbia for business casual settings
TY you have to shop around. You can find some REALLY great deals on EBAY and some other places just gotta watch regularly. I just got an extra beanie and a puffy vest from Black Ovis drastically reduced. Like half price
Kuiu has some nice stuff and the prices are good but it's almost impossible to get what you want when you want it. Or so it seems.
I will...but I love my Scentlok and it may be in my head but love it. I however would love some great midlayer merino or baselayers possibly. Caught my eye for sure now.
The base layers are great.... Tacklebox what kind of temps do you generally hunt? I needed some good outerwear for cold weather. My scent lok and under armour doesn't get it done when it gets cold Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'd say 90% is fairly mild 40-50deg... I was out this past week in some mid 20deg weather with wind chills around 10deg and 15mph wind and rain / sleet. lol I stayed warm and comfortable the entire time.. I was wearing my North Branch outers and threw on my Puffy a couple times after sitting for awhile.
Allegheny and the North branch pants on bottom - Allegheny, Halstead, Chama, North Branch on top.... This has been my standard for my November hunts so far. Give or take the Halstead or chama depending on the weather. Puffy stays in the pack till after awhile on stand. If I get chilled it goes on, then back into the pack before heading out or moving in general as it generally overheats me pretty quick while hiking and hauling gear.
The puffy would appear to be a noisier fabric, is that just the looks of it? I hate fabric noises on stand.
Just bought my first Chama and already have some merino fingerless gloves, Gloves were the gateway drug to the chama...
Ty I wouldn't say it is noisy per se but it isn't completely quiet either. It is made of two different materials between the top and bottom portions of the jacket. The bottom portion and sleeves being of the more noisy fabric. That being said it isn't loud enough to give me any concern. Granted with the winds I often am hunting in you could whistle Dixie and not spook deer so....
Soft, thin but warm, I am not the biggest fan of hoods on that type of garment but I absolutely love it on the Chama and use the hood way more often than I thought it would. Also with hood up and zipper all the way up it covers everything nicely. I didn't think I would be a fan of the thumb holes on the Chama (Allegheny also has them) turns out I was wrong about that as well....
I got my Santuary bibs, jacket and puffy. The Sanctuary is freaking sweet. I think it's going to do great. The puffy will be a great insulating layer as well. Going to test them out in the morning, it's getting down to 25 degrees tonight Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
After my Sitka gear was stolen I got some scentlok and cabelas gear but I believe I'm gonna go to first lite for next seasons gear! What pattern are you using?
