...and asked what the DNR had planed to do about the reduction in the deer population. I asked if they planned to cancel the Dec. gun hunts. I got the response that we can call the DNR and be transferred to the Wildlife Department and voice our concerns.

WE SHOULD. If you feel strongly enough about this then take five minutes out of your day and call them. Tell them that we want the Dec. gun hunts canceled and that we want honesty and integrity from those leading the DNR. Pass this around to anyone that you know, whether they gun hunt or bow hunt or both. Have their friends call, as I will call and so will my wife. IT IS ONLY FIVE MINUTES for the future of your sport.

    MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD!!!!!!!!!!

I notice that this post is getting some views but no responses, and I realize that this may be due to the fact that some of you do not live in Wisconsin. This issue is not only a Wisconsin issue, this is happening throughout the upper Midwest. I also realize that also some of you WILL be going out for the 4 day anterless hunt and the SECOND regular hunt in December. I only ask you to consider that if the numbers are down now and hunters take more deer in Dec. what do we expect next year and the year after to be like. I had planned to go out and hunt at least one of the seasons, but in the interest of the future I have decided to sit them out.

Do you have any numbers (i.e deer killed or unit populations)? I bowhunted for 3 weeks and hit 2 days of the rifle opener this year and saw plenty of deer. This was in Oneida county. I actually saw a lot of very small bucks (spikes, forks) and a lot of fawns. I will agree that there was not a lot of shooting on opening day of the rifle season, but people were still killing deer. I also have to agree that the seaon was a strange one.... I never really saw "full rut" its like they went from very light chasing to instant lock down. So i guess i would have to see the numbers. Yes it was different from last year but i still think there are plenty of deer. Oh, and i did notice one thing different this year... a lot more baiters out there then in the past.

The Dnr in WI is hard headed and thet don't really listen to people. I'll give them a call and give them my opinion. I agree with you about the #'s everybody I talked to had alot less sightings then normal.

The southern part of Wisconsin was right on but the north is suffering from a late winter this year.
Also the predators really are doing some damage in the area of Langlade County that I hunted during gun season.
I was told by a lot of the locals the the bear population is way up and really causing a problem with fawns
during spring. Ive been round and round with this Keith Warnke on the issue and the guy just plain
has tunnel vision. Especially with CWD and how they are attacking it. He kind played me like a idiot until I called him out about this prion being in the soil and finally he admitted it will never go away. You can buy a ERADICATE THE DNR tshirt at www.bloodbro.com lol Bukmastr Dan is the man.

You can argue with them all you want... There goal is 10 deer per square mile statewide, and 5 per square mile within the CWD zone. This has nothing to do with CWD. There are actual studies and results from other states that prove reducing numbers actually spreads CWD faster by making bucks spread out there home ranges greater in search of does... CWD only affects a percentage of the herd, It does not harm people or livestock, its permanently woven into our environment, and there is nothing anybody can do about that. The DNR is well aware of these facts. The main problem is that the Wisc. DNR is ran by the Governor. The Gov is not a wildlife expert. When Doyle got into office the 1st thing he did is fire all the top DNR personnel and hire his campaign buddies and friends to run the DNR... Anybody who knows Doyle knows he works off of kickbacks and payoffs... I wonder why the Auto insurance companies have given him huge campaign donations???

The only thing that will stop the DNR is hunters who stop shooting too many deer, stop buying licenses, and spread the word...

Here is the point, all the guys leading the WAR ON WHITETAILS are new appointees from Adolf Doyle...

Here is a photo of one of the Governors appointed warriors who is helping to kill Wisconsins great heritage of whitetail hunting:

A friend of mine who has been suppling me "inside info" Sent me some lenthy letters that portray some fustrations with the way Hassett has been treating the rest of the staff. Here are some quotes:

Is it just me? Or does this Dude sound a little threatening to unsupportive DNR staff? I read in the letters that these reports and letters came out 3 months after Adolf Doyle appointed him Secratary. [/b]

Yeah buddy, I agree. It's all a scam by the DNR and insurance companies. CWD has been out west since the 60's, and they've come to realize that they can't eradicate all the deer, and have finally given up on trying to do so. Unfortunately, this will be a long hard road for us. I'd love to try to start a web campaign & flood the DNR w/us telling them to stop all the hunts. The deer hunt numbers are down because there are LESS deer. You can only shoot so many b4 a decrease in the population occurs. I had a few friends bowhunt in Black River falls for a week b4 the gun season. One did not see any deer all week. And these are spots where we always have seen deer. The other 2 guys seen 4 deer the whole week. I've seen deer, but a single here & there. People will not come to Wi. to hunt due to a poor chance of harvest. Any one have any ideas how to maybe get out voices heard? Lets try to get something started.

I totally agree. We need to take a stand. Shoot less deer and don't buy a license if you are not hunting. The DNR needs money and we are the ones giving it to them.

For those of you that think the DNR maybe in your state too, is helping, ask what it was like when there were few deer. My grandfather tells of when there were so few deer that you could hunt for an entire week, year after year, and it was great if one guy saw ONE deer. That is what the insurance companies and our gov (Doyle) want.
