I shot a Carbon Matrix today. Was not impressed.

Sure it was extreamly light and felt good in my hand. But I have to say I did not like the vibration post shot. It seemed like the bow felt almost like a tuning fork. $1600 or whatever it was? I don't think so.

Agreed 100%. I didn't care for the bow much, and that $1600 price tag?? Yeah it's light, but there are bows half the price that are every bit as light.

I'm hoping the project was more of a flagship product to test certain waters. I'm excited to see what Hoyt has for 2011.

If that's the case, you CERTAINLY won't like the Destroyer.

    At least you know, now!

Yeah well what is it with major manufactures top of the line bow not seeming as good as the second or third tier (at least to me). I'd take a maxis 31 over a carbon matrix any day and I can buy two of them for the price.

I'm hoping they honestly don't think this bow is worth $1600

$1600 bucks but they aren't on the hooks at any shop they are flying off the shelves! Good to see some folks are doing well in this economy! Im sure now that Hoyt is in the carbon race they will come down in price over the next few years. I'll be shooting my Maxxis 31 for many years just like my Havoc-tec before it. Someone had to steal it for me to get a new bow.:hater:

Flying off the shelves? I heard just the opposite. The shop I shot this one at today has not sold a single one. It may appear like they are flying off the shelves because they are not making that many of them.

Shooting side by side, a Maxxis31, Maxxis35, Carbon Matrix, and an AM35, I liked the AM35 best of the bunch. I liked the Carbon Matrix about the same as the Maxxis35, but the AM35 felt the best to my personally, and considering the price difference, it was a no brainer......

The destroyer is nothing like the Hoyt Carbon Matrix at the shot. There is no tuning fork feel to the Destroyer...I don't know if your stirring the pot or if your just speaking of something you know nothing about.

I own both so I know first hand what I'm talking about. I was fortunate to get a Carbon Matrix at a real discount otherwise I would not have one.

GFY, Dude you live in Mathewsland! Your the first guy I've seen not shooting a Mathews from Wisconsin, in 15 years! :poke: Just kidding man, I guess it could have something to do with were you live though.

Considering I can physically SEE the roller flex guard vibrating (and, naturally, feel it), I'd say my comments were spot-on. Your mileage (and bias) may vary.

I shot Buckeye's Destroyer 340 and it was as smooth as a baby's arse, and we know I am not one to give props to Bowtech;) The bow is a sweet shooter and would be on my short list if I was gonna buy another bow this year.

I call them as I see them. Without regard to brand. However, if I was in Mathews land you would think there would be a decent Mathews dealer close.

I have a Destroyer 340 and would say out of all the bows I shot this year, its far from a tuning fork. I would agree that its hard to justify 1600 for a Carbon Matrix.

Not to tell anyone what to like.We all have our own "opinion" of what is best for us.

Saying that, the Matrix is marketed toward a different crowd than the average hunter.Durabilty and accuracy are it's main focus. Those that bounce bows around in the mountains and are just plain hard on equipment can justify the extra cash

.Feel after the shot means NOTHING in how a bow performs.Actually the most forgiving and accurate bows in the world feel like crap at the shot.

I personally give feel at the shot almost no thought in the purchase of a bow(unless it is a target bow, which in that case,I want a little more forward jump),rarely do I even need to shoot a bow to know if "I" will like it.Of course if it rattles my teeth,it wouldn't be around long.

Balance and aim are my point of focus.

PLUS,the Matrix IS a limited edition bow so it isn't going to have the numbers sold as most flagship bows but I venture to say the test run is showing that more of these tubular carbon bows will be in our future.

I am sure most have seen the videos of the MAtrix being run over by a truck,as testiment to it's toughness but for those that haven't,here it is.

    Enjoy

It's amazing though what we spend on these bows. Maybe the Matrix was a way for Hoyt to test the water.

This is a point that just cannot be overlooked. Excellent post overall but I just wanted to highlight this most excellent point. Think about it. What happens after the arrow is gone is meaningless.

    I forgot you know everything!

Me owning both boths and shooting both makes my opinion biased? I'd say I have a little more credibility than you on this particular topic. Your eyes must be like superman's to see the flex guard vibrate and whomever is holding the bow that your watching the FLX vibrate must have a hold on that bow like a vise. Tell me can you see the torgue on a riser with a cable guard on it too? Your hilarious.
