Finch, I wanted to do some shopping at Gander the other day, but knew my blood pressure couldn't take it. Last year I stopped in for the same reason, just to meander around. I picked up something and while waiting in line over heard the following conversation. (Two guys, one carry a new bow with all the accs, the other pushing a cart with 50 pounds of corn, acorn rage, and some blocks.) PA is a NON BAITING state. "Hey Jerry, are we gonna have time to get this bow ready?" (Jerry) "Heck ya, it only takes like 5 minutes to screw that stuff on, you don't need to shoot, I can get you close enough." 8pm night before opener. I struggled to maintain my cool. Rob's right, we all suffer.
Yeah it's creepy this time of year. I try my best to avoid Bass Pro right around now. I just don't want to witness the chaos and walk down the stairs shaking my head again. Even my son noticed it. This is his first year bowhunting and we were in there getting some odds and ends. The archery department was LOADED with people tuning their bows, strings, buying bows, arrows, etc.... He asked me when we were leaving... "shouldn't all those people have all that stuff ready by now?" He's been shooting all summer and we are 99% ready. Just waiting for the 16th to get here. It really is amazing to see.
