I was in Wally World earlier picking up a few things and saw some people buying arrows and BHs for the opener tomorrow. Maybe some are replenshing their stock but I'm sure not all of them were. Kinda like when I was in Gander earlier this week and handfuls of people suddenly decided they needed new bow strings or what not a few days before season. AND then they're outraged when they won't get their bow back until after the opener. When will they ever learn???
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...... http://forums.bowhunting.com/showthread.php?t=15630&highlight=annoyed Yep. sure is sad isn't it.
I was thinking the same thing lastnight when I stopped at Wally world. The hunting department was packed. Most getting licenses but everything was moving.
Haha...you know. I actually posted a reply in that thread as well. It gets me everytime. On a side note, your lantern thread inspired me. I picked this bad boy up for $40 on Craigslist. It looks brand new especially for a 1983 220K model and came with the case to boot.
Dude that is perfect. Just remember that if it is not getting very bright that you need to buy a replacement generator for the lantern. I just replaced my generator after 10 years. Those lanterns last forever. You just need to fix stuff once in awhile to keep them running just like anything else. Are you looking for a shield?
Yeah, I do need a shield. I found them at Coleman.com. You have to scroll down to see it. I think you were the one saying you had a hard time finding one? http://search.coleman.com/cgi-bin/M...ONS REFLECTIVE REFLECTORS REFLECTS reflector I'm not sure if I need a new generator or not. The lantern is in great shape and works like a charm. I was a little dissappointed when I took it outside in the dark. Maybe it was because it did not have a reflector but it didn't really impress me to be used in tracking deer. Whatever the case, I still like the lantern. I am proud of the purchase.
Aluminum foil folded to shape and inserted between the frame and globe on the backside of the lantern makes a cheap and effective globe for tracking (or night fishing).
In answer to the OP, yep I hear what you're saying. Typically they aren't the most knowledgeable bowhunters and though I hate to say it, they're generally slob hunters. They'll wound a deer at 50 yards and blame their equipment. We all suffer for it in the long run... I wish they would come here and get educated on gear and tactics long before the season starts.
I pray that those are the idiots that hunt near my property so that everytime they miss the deer they come runnin to my freezer. good luck everyone that had to wait till this morning.
I hope it doesn't count, but I have to run out today for a rope to pull my bow up with as I cant seem to find my retractable spool I've used for years.
yeah dude, they are not that bright, but for some reason the spetrum of the light shows blood so much better than a flashlight, and the reflector willl help /end hijack
Lol....no that doesn't count. Kodiak...thanks for the tip about the foil. I might just save $15 or so and do that. I can't believe I'm saying this but I can't wait to track one in the dark.
see i could not be one of these ppl that you speak of my bow has been decided for me to be my xmas present. that would leave me 5 days of hunting. So my first hunting season will be the Spring Gobbler here in VA.
finch, is there any pro shops in the roanoke area that is dependable? i've missed a whole week b/c the shop I went to said it would have it done 2 days ago.now its call monday and thats a maybe! I will NOT ever go thru this crap again! I mean a damn week for a string & cable and its still not there.Come on!
Nope, not really. I haven't used a pro shop for a few years now so I really can't answer that anyway. I'd say you're better off staying where you are. You should be high priority since you've had it there for a while. I'm sure all the shops around here are behind now anyway. Good luck!
Geesh... I drive all the way to Virginia hoping someone won't recognize me, and it gets posted all over the internet.
I made an arrow on Thursday afternoon and shot a doe with it on Friday morning. How's that for last minute?
Greg...you should cover your tracks a little better next time. :D LMAO...Christine, you know what I mean. Heck, I didn't buy my license until a few hours before my hunt. Does that make me a hypocrite? It wasn't equipment related though.
That's why I am here :D I checked the forums out and decided that it was a great place to learn. I have never bow hunted before, but I have practiced. Hope to go some time in the near future, maybe 2-3 years.
