When I got to the end of the bloodtrail I almost cried. The best buck I ever shot wasn't legal.
I only saw him broadside. I thought good deer. He didn't meet the 13 inch inside spread another restriction.
I tagged and dressed that deer knowing he would never go home with me. I thought about letting him lay. I couldn't look myself in the face If I did. I take great pride in being a bowhunter ed instructor. How could I ever stand I'm front of a class and try to teach ethics if I don't have any?
Justin please disqualify me from the contest. I turned the deer in at the check station, burned a buck tag, and.got my $525 ticket.
    I suck at bowhunting.

Damn. I got huge respect for ya. That's a tough pill. Chin up. There's a lot of hunters, fathers, and even some instructors that wouldn't have sacked up and did the right thing. You can't buy integrity, you have it Sir.

Man, sorry to hear that. Great job manning up though, you'll get over the mistake and still have your character in tact. Good luck the rest of the season.

Sucking would have been leaving it lay.

Gotta respect integrity, its in short supply these days.

Sorry it went bad for ya, but karma has a way of coming back for you.

I can understand point restrictions and what not as they are clear cut, but a 13 inch minimum inside spread? How the heck is a guy supposed to know that with any certainty.

I respect the hell out of ya, Greg (always have).

Wow, sorry to hear that. It was an admirable thing to take your lumps like you did., as was said, most people would not have.

Does this disqualify any future chances of being drawn on that particular site? Hopefully karma points will allow you redemption in the future.

Sorry to hear, knowing the restrictions and seeing that deer broadside I would have shot him too. As everyone has said, your a good man for what you did, it just sucks when it's someone like you who is punished. You seem to do a lot more for hunting in your area than almost everyone. As others are saying, I hope karma pays you back big time.
