Thanks for all the comments everyone! I am not feeling nearly as bad anymore since I have come to the realization that I have my first deer now!

As for the rest of the story. I arrived this morning and headed out. Peakrut was going to join me to assist with field dressing and hauling to the car. As I cam around the corner where I last new he was up pops his head as he is starting right at me. Turns out the arrow from lastnight half spined him and he lost all use of his back legs. I am shocked that he even went as far as he did. As already posted it turnes out that this was a tiny buck but in the fading light I was unable to see that thus assuming it was a doe. Even upon arrival this morning I didn't notice the small antlers until I walked right up on him. So a second shot this morning and he was done. I left the woods and headed back to the car to await Peaks arrival. Just as we(peak)completed field dressing him DukeMichaels called and said he was on his way over. We got a bunch of pictures but I will have to wait till tomorrow night to post them since I don't have my camera sync cable with me. I am sure that Duke will post some later tonight after his hunt today with JZ. Thanks again everyone and espeically Peak! I would have been lost today without your help!

Thanks again to everyone for the comments! A big part of me is truely releaved to be able to say that I finally got my first deer. Don't think the part that wishes it went differently will ever go away but just another story to tells for years to come. And a huge lesson to learn from and make me a better hunter for the future!

Congrats Ferg on your first deer with a bow. We all make those decisions at some time in our life. But it did turn out okay, & you retrieved the deer. He'll make some good eating. Congrats again.

I thought about it but decided to pass on it. I know as I continue to get more into this wonderful sport I will definetly have other deer that I will get mounted.
