Since I maintain a 1/2 mile of road I use the rear blade to shave the gravel to the bottom of any pot holes. By setting the skid shoes one notch lower on the outside edge of the blade, I can maintain the crown of the road. First you pull the gravel to the center of the drive. Then once you remove the pot holes you then redistribute the gravel evenly over the surface of the road. To do this I reset the blade with both skid shoes set the same on both sides. You want them in the position that raises the blade the highest. Then I straddle the road with the blade centered in the middle of the road and perpendicular to the road. I adjust the top link so there is 1/2 " gap under the center of the blade. This leaves about a 2" gap under the ends of the blade. You then simply drive forward and allow the gravel to spill to the sides. After that I put on my 7' landscape rake ( backward ) and drive up and down the road smoothing out the gravel. Like frosting a cake. I do not have a box blade but I plan on buying a grading scraper. Very nice implement for maintaining a road or shaping a yard. Sent from my Galaxy S3 and Tapatalk 2
Congrats on the purchase. I've had mine for just under 4 years now and can't imagine being without it. Life just because a lot easier!
Sky, it is blowing me away all the ideas for the tractor we have had since we signed the deal .. I can't wait! Friday cannot come soon enough
Before I bought my tractor the dealer said we'll send it over so you try it and see if you like it. So a couple days later a guy with a trailer comes and drops off the tractor with the attachments. No papers to sign or anything. He just dropped it off. So we played with it for about 10 days before the dealership calls up. "How do you like the tractor?" I was so tempted to say "What tractor??" But it was a sure way to get us to buy it. A few days with that thing and we were hooked. :D
Thanks, Fitzy! Today is the day ... we have paid off over $50,000 worth of debt over the last 2 years ...time to add a little back :D For those of you who know Dave Ramsey ... you should like this :D
Tony, Seems kind of coincidental. I just bought a 4WD Mahindra 3616 with a front-loader, box blade and landscape blade last weekend.
Nice tractor! I'm jealous of your four wheels, our family farms tractor is one of the three wheeled older ones.
Skimming topsoil of the pasture at my farmers place..all loamy, composted cow poop.... Here I am using the forks to place the 4x8 plant filled pallets in the garage to protect them from tonight's frost
