Finding something like this. It can be plastic, aluminum, whatever... it doesn't have to be special. It can even be a little different that what I've drawn as long as it has the same basic principles. I've seen similar stuff, but can't think of anything exact. This is for my "million dollar idea" so when I make millions... I'll pay you millions too. :d :d :d

Seriously though, if you have any ideas as to where I might find something like this... I'd be gracious.

Might be larger than desired.....1/2" conduit is 7/8" outside diameter.

Small guaqe wire spool? Commercial sewing machine thread bobbin? Spool from a spinning reel?( that last might take some re-manufacturing.

That might do it though. 1/2" EMT with a couple of pieces of 3/4 to 1/2 chinese money. Solder the chinese money on one end of the conduit and leave the other loose. Dustin if you want I'll try and manufacture one tomorrow and let you know how it turns out.

Does this part need to be anchored to the shaft or left loose?

Do you weld? This could be made in no time with a welder. Cut out the steel/ aluminum yourself, or go to a machine shop in your town to get the pieces cut. Then weld them together.

Can the shaft be threaded? If so a piece of the hollow threaded rod used in light fixtures may do. You could then use nuts to anchor appropriatly sized washers where you need them.

It needs to be a little more rigid than rubber. I guess I could try and solder together some washers and super small metal tubing... I just keep thinking I've seen something like this before.

Greg, that's piece needs to be left loose, however, you threaded idea a few posts later would be perfect. From the end of the "post" to the back of the first "washer thingy" only needs to be like 1/2" to an 1" long.

Sorry I didn't see all you guys posts earlier, I started typing and then went to the store.

    Thanks for eveyone's help

Dubbya, I can make that in about five minutes for ya if you can just give me more dimensions. I work in a machine shop so it wouldn't be any problem

Jim, do you think these will work? I appreciate your help, sending a PM shortly.

Also, I think an 1/8 diameter cylinder (outside) would work as well, it doesn't necessarily have to be hollow... it could be solid.

SB, I'm not trying to get a disease in the process :d

That will work. The thread is a little iffy though. Not sure if I will be able to thread it because our "threader" is out on our manual mill. I'll see what I can do though

If I can get the thread to work I would need to make the overall size of the cylinder smaller, that way the washer would fit over it. Also, I would need to know what kind of thread. I'm guessing any kind will work as long as the washer screws smoothly onto the cylinder?.....

One more thing, what is the diameter of the through hole that goes through the cylinder

I have this exact thing in plastic. It is used to attach the pool filter hoses to the sides of our soft-sided swimming pool. Do some searching on swimming pool sites, soft-sided of course, and look for replacement parts.
