    Hi Guys & Gals,

I had encounters with a couple of 4.5yr olds today. One around 8am and the other at 4pm. Both are obviously pissed by my grunts and rattling, they either snort wheeze at me or continuously grunted back but they wouldn't come into range. They stayed out about 60 yards and made complete circles around me.

They did not wind me but one did notice the trail i came in on, he picked up his head very fast, but continued to walk in a circle and stare in my direction, he ultimately didn't seem to phased by it.

I think they want to see another deer on the ground or perhaps a decoy. Unfortunately, I'm deep in a swamp. I'm in the largest tree of the swamp which is a 8" ash, so I have almost no cover

I had estrous wicks out today. I have access to a 3.5yr old tarsal gland if that might help?

    Thoughts? Ideas?

    I'm thinking
    1) don't rattle or call at all and cross my fingers one comes strolling through tomorrow
    2) drag my glendel target out there but its a long walk with all my gear plus the glen del.
    3) I have no idea...

I had very little doe action today which surprised me but I had two at least 4.5yr olds a 3.5 and two 2.5s. What a day. These deer are loving my flextone!

I tried estrous bleats, snort wheezes. Nothing brought them in, We just had a staring match for about 45 minutes.

How can I seal the deal??

    Thanks!

Inflatable doe or buck decoy? Doe can call? Also try rubbing a stick up and down on the side of the tree you are in to imitate a buck rubbing on a tree.

Ha. I know its that elusive answer. Ive just never had a mature deer stay curious for that long and was wondering if someone had a similar experience. He wasnt interested in the bleat can and I always rub the tree/branches when doing a rattling sequence. Havent seen him today but the weather is crazy here. 20+ winds and blowing snow. Unfortunately no pictures either. I bring a camera arm and small point and shoot with me on every hunt it just doesn't get good video past 20yds. No zoom.
