I currently have the MAD buck growl but I think the reed is bent and It's been freezing up on me a lot. I like this call because it produces a loud, throaty grunt. I may just purchase another one but wanted to see if there is a louder grunt call on the market. Anyone know of any?

My Buck growl "quacks" if I try to use it too loud. It stays in the bottom of the backpack most of the time. Try a Buck Roar if you want a louder call.

My buck growl has been the best grunt I have ever used. I have seen it turn around and bring in small bucks and big bucks alike.

    Very good call IMO.

I don't have much trouble making it loud enough. I think the key is exhaling strong but still slow enough to maintain the deep grunt instead of the party favor squeal if you get too fast.

For some reason I ALWAYS end up coming back to this call. It makes a great sounds, but it isn't the loudest. It was this call I used to grunt in my last buck. I'm glad they kind of started making these again, just with some different modifications and a new name.

I have the Buck Roar... But the only call that I have ever seen "work" or get any reaction from something other than my dog, would be the "can?" the Primos call. Seriously. The only one that I have seen do anything productive.lol.

i carry at all times in the woods, a true talker, buck roar, and the can. if i could only have one it'd be the true talker, although i love the can alot, and the buck roar comes in handy around the rut. the reason i'd choose the true talker if i could only take one would be because you can make any pitch sound with it without having to adjust anything except where you apply pressure on the reed end. when getting my buck this year i was tipping the can and grunting with the true talker. i like the roar though for long distance calling or when it's windy/ noisy. good luck

So the Primos Buck Roar is louder than the MAD Buck growl, anyone know? Maybe the same?

Mine used to be louder but doesn't seem to be anymore. I took it apart and cleaned it but that didn't help. I also take the rubber piece off but it doesn't sound as "throaty" without it.

A-way hunting, Bowgrunter Plus, great non threatening real deer sounding tones and hands-free inhale for bowhunting. Love mine and have been using one for 11 years.

    Grunt

I have both the MAD buck growl and the Primos buck roar. I prefer the buck roar. I feel like I can be louder with the primos buck roar. I think the mad call rattles if I try to do it too loud.

I left my growl at home and bought a Bone Collector flex tone.. heck it was under 6$ at Wally world and sounds great! It worked very well, calling in my buck!

i have never had a deer react to a grunt call, i carry one and i use it but i cant say that a deer turned and came to me ever.

now the primos can call that is a completely different story ... dont leave home without it.

Mine used to sound great and its called in many bucks for me....now's a different story. Its sounding more and more like a duck call now.

Went ahead and bought the Primos Buck Roar today. I'll never use that feature but you can really get down on this call and it won't quack like the M.A.D. Thanks guys!
