So, I was hunting this piece of property that me and my father in law and another one of us friends recently leased. I will make this short and sweet. I was in the stand, and at about 6:50, a HUGE 8 pointer walks out of his bedding area, and comes in at about 30 yards. Keep in mind I am hunting with a recurve, so. So I was shaking the whole time, and I shot, and we couldn't find my arrow, or any blood trails, but we are going back tommorrow afternoon, after work, and we are gonna look for my arrow, and possibly a dead deer. I hope if i missed him, that it was a clean miss, but if I hit him, that it was a killshot, and he didn't suffer. Anyhow, I can't get it off my mind, it's really bothering me. Have a good night guys, bye.

Deinhardt, you must be a stud with the recurve to shoot from 30 yards, because my current effective shooting distance in the deer woods is about 15 yards. Not kidding.

Good luck, I shot and hit a deer last year. I was SURE it was a good hit...searched for ever and couldn't find it...got depressed. One week before my cousin shot it opening morning of gun season. the buck was still up and running around chasing does with a broad head stuck in his chest! I felt SOOOO much better after he got the deer and I knew what happened.

I was so bummed for that week when I thought I had mortally wounded a deer that I couldn't find....I coudln't focus at work or anything, my wife thought I was demented. You can find my post from last year and read it...I even made a "wanted" poster with a $50 reward that I was going to hand out to the nieghbors incase one of them stumbled across the freshly dead buck during the gun season. Now my cousin jokes I owe him $50!

Well to update you guys, I found the arrow, with no blood on it. I didn't scare the buck either, or atleast I think. When I shot at him, he ran like 10 yards, turned around, and just started walking like nothing happened. Good news is, I was up in the stand, 5 does came walking out, but I couldn't get up to get a shot, too much wind blowing for me to even hear them. Going again tommorrow, wish me luck. This recurve is a hard nut to crack my friends.
