I had a guy come into my office last week for a quote. During the conversation, he noticed a pic on my office wall. Its a pic I've posted a thousand times before, my youngest son with some sheds. He took a look at this pic and said "Those are some decent sized horns"

The "decent sized horns" in question.

At this point I'm wondering if the guy has ever seen a deer. Then he says "Come out to my house next week, I've got over 800 sheds, dead heads, and european mounts hanging up." :d I'm still thinking...yeah..sure ya do. Well, we started talking deer hunting and I immediately realized this man had forgotten more about deer hunting than I know. You could feel the passion in this guys soul....all he thinks about is finding and killing big bucks. Today was the day I had been looking forward to for a week. He was to show me the collection. Enjoy fellas....and buckeye.:d

Here's what I first saw when he opened the door.

One of the nice ones he found dead.

There were more big deer in this barn than in any place I've ever seen. He used to drive a spray rig so he was out in the fields in the spring, this is a lifetime of shed hunting for this man. Today was a cool day, I met the real bone collector.:hail:

Very cool! How many years of collecting is that? A while ago I found a website that had a guy with an absolutely amazing shed collection of everything from deer to elk to moose. I sure wish I could find a link to the website again because it was really cool. I'll look around to see if I can find it.

Ok I found the link to the website I mentioned in my post before. I don't know if all of these were found, but regardless it's still pretty impressive.

He said over 40 years, but he found over 100 sheds just last year. He uses an ATV now due to health reasons. Most impressive collection I've ever seen. It pales only to Fran's Beanie Baby collection.

holy mackeral! that is one impressive collection. I couldn't get over the size of some of the tines. Unbeleivable. Where did this guy pick all these up, on his million acre hunting paradise?

No, he drove a spray truck, spraying crop fields. Told me he started picking them up before he even started deer hunting, he would get flat tires by running over them. :D The pics really don't do the racks justice, I had a few more pics, but you get the general idea. Whole lotta bone! ;)

Thanks for sharing the photos and the story.

Tractor tires aren't cheap, I destroyed one with a shed once. Luckily, I had front duals on the tractor and since the tire was junk, I just kept on rolling in front of the planter, working ground. I know exactly why this guy started collecting sheds. I can only hope to find as many, without ruining anymore tires of course.

Pretty awesome set your son is holding as well. What did they score?

Based on a 15 inch spread, it's in the 190's. I need to clarify, those aren't my sheds that he's holding up. My friend and his dad found them last year. We just came over to see them and snapped a few pics.

Wow!! You would need a seperate building just to store them all! How do people find the time for that? Very impressive
