Here is what I did. I own an Archery range. I decided to start one because I love to shoot and thought I would do something that I love to maybe make a little money. It has been a bust so far but, I have a really nice place to go shoot whenever the weather will allow it. I even have a dedicated tree stand lane. Its awesome!! Remember, I have only been shooting since last September and regularly since around middle of November so there is a bunch of little things I did and still do not know. I am pretty much self taught with the exception of my brothers who now ask me questions about archery. OK now to the stupid thing I did. I bought 3 bows to use as rentals. I also bought three sets of six arrows. I decided to glue the knocks in so that the customers would not damage the fletchings due to turning the knocks the wrong way. Don't tell me, I know it was dumb. I shot a few and a few of the knocks broke off when they hit the target. I did some research and found out this was a BIG FAT NO, NO!! So for almost a month I worked on trying to figure out how to fix this without having to cut the back ends off of the arrows and re fletching them. I didn't want to soak them in chemicals due to possibly damaging the shafts. They are carbon after all. I got ill one day and snapped all the knocks off and decided to take a drill and try drilling out what was left of the knocks. I figured worse case I would still have to cut off the ends and re fletch. I used a little smaller bit than the knocks were. I started drilling the first one and the bit went in about a 1/4" and SNAP! The glue broke loose. I was able to pull it out. I did this on the rest of the arrows and it worked great. I put new better knocks in and I now have fixed arrows. Just thought I would share this with everyone just in case someone else out there has arrows with glued in knocks. I hope no one else on here has done this though.
