    Hey folks!

I just recent bought 2 bows!
I now own a Martin Jaguar take down and a Browning compound Camo Badger.

First question is how would i go about finding a spare string for my Martin take down bow? I have looked online but have found nothing. Would a Generic one be ok to use?

Second is i bought the Browning compound used and is missing the arrow rest. Does this model need the same kind or would anyone work? and for the string it needs replaceing would a basic one do as well??

And i own a mini crossbow that needs a string. it has no markings on it other then its made in Taiwan with you experts do you think it needs a 50 pound or 80 pound string?

I know pretty much nothing and am depending on you experts to help point me in the right direction and yes i have tried other fourms but all i get is smart repliless remarks. Please help me out get started!

    Thanks!

    First.. welcome to the site.

Second.. give it a few and some of these more technical gurus we have here will be happy to help. I'm not qualified for this one.

On the Browning and the Martin, is there any string data on the inside of the limbs?

On the Xbow, where did you get the idea for 50 or 80 lb strings?

I'm not technically savvy either to answer this one but I think it has to be asked what you want these bows to accomplish? Deer hunting? Just farting around in the backyard? What are your goals?

    Update.

I did find a string for my Martin!!!

Still need info on my xbow and the browning camo badger.
For the browing im guessing any arrow rest would do? and how would i change the string on a compound bow?

As for my goals i will start in my back yard and work my way up i want to get comfortable with my bows before i take em out, So the more info on what i need would greatly help me in my quest. There is no place in my area that sells these so i am relying on u guys to help!

I think you need to find a reputable bow shop and take them all in for some advice and assistance. They can help you get started. Please keep in mind that you need to be very proficient with any weapon before you ever take to the field for game. In other words, kind of a late start for this hunting season.

The compound will need a press to change the string. I know nothing about that particular model but it's a good idea to replace strings and cables as a set unless it has steel cables in which case you can leave them if they are in good shape. As someone else suggested, find a good pro shop and take it there. There's just too much that I can't see with that bow to give you good advice on replacing the strings / cables and what you need without having the bow in hand.

For the crossbow, it'd help if you had an old string to copy. If there's no string on it and you don't know the manufacturer or model, I don't know what to tell you. Someone may be able to help, but it isn't me.

Welcome to the site and best of luck getting straightened around!

I have a Martin Jaguar Takedown bow. I'm pretty sure the string length needs to be 59 inches if i'm not correct. The length of the bow is 62. I can't remember, I just know that I had it all written down before, and went and got another one. The one that comes with it sucks. Any string will do, as long as it's the right length. I'm about to go in the woods, I'll look for the info when I get back.

The length of the string needs to be 57 inches long. Not 59 as I stated before. The AMO length of your Martin Jaguar Take Down bow is 60. Your bow is 62 inches long. You either have a 45# 50# or 55# pullback.
