You can get great topo maps from http://www.usgs.gov. You just have to know what area you want a map of. Yout can find it on their website very easily.

Well, I'm definitely not as concerned about drawing that tag now either if I have CO as a backup plan. Maybe I'll be all sorts of hard core and get both tags, haha

    Steve.

You never know with that Banjo Boy he will more than likely get something too sharp too close to his string:eek:

I wont be making the strings the bow owners can do that I will just give a little instruction if they dont know how to make one:D

On the mule deer tag drawing... what are the chances of pulling a tag? Are the bear permits OTC or draw? Should I even bother with those tags??

I'll be putting In for a deer license as well. The other tags I'll be getting will be a bear tag and a either sex elk tag.

Cool idea Russ , i know what i'm gonna be doing one night .

Are the brush buttons a wise investment , does anybody use them ?

Steve , i'm gonna be hunting the Elk hard and if i do get one and my funds don't stretch to a bear , then i will assist others where help may be needed in packing out or go sight seeing / photo opertunities / maybe even fishing .

Remind me again Will , is it a 4 point minimum or are spikes legal ? , cuz i'm gonna take the first one to show up.

I haven't posted much on this but I'm watching it with interest. We'll see if I can get my old bones (and more importantly, flat land Lungs) in shape for a romp in the mountains.

My question for the experienced elk hunters is "how much will we depend on calling?" I have zero experience with elk bugling. Just what I've watched on video. It looks like it would be much too easy to over call.

I'm an asthmatic and i had no problems , i also suffer with my left knee , but once you gt up their you'll forget about the aches ( until the following morning) :) .

I practiced my calling for 5 months before going lastime , I got the Primos Elk mouth calls made easy pack with instructional CD , i got response from cow calling . Limit the bull bugling and listen carefully , cuz you never know when you're gonna bump into a resting group of Elk ...." right Will " ...."DOH"

I haven't a clue on this area carpsniper but In other area's I've been at the elk were really call shy and other area's they weren't so call shy. Lots of people and pressure make elk this way. It sure would be awesome If Will says they are not call shy here for the most part.

We picked them up on our way from the airport at the Huge Bass Pro Shop on the way to Will's , think there are a few places on the way to camp you can get them , but don't quote me on that . You have to goto Bass Pro Shop , it's amazing and full of hunter eye candy ... bring your card or plenty of cash .

As far as calling......I'm gonna follow the lead of my host. I have no experience with it.
