Elk and bears in your back yard...I sure would love to trade Erie, PA for Erie, Colorado. Someday......anyway you guys are going to have fun
Will. I thought we were going to a wilderness area, now i see i wont even have to put my boots on That is too cool. The only animals I get in my yard are the two legged types from next door.
I think a trip to that Fine home in Buena Vista Should be on the cards this year too , did you get a picture of the Big Horns ? ..... I'd really like to hunt a Big Horn one day . Really like the location of your second home , Elk in the Back Garden ...... amazing , he's a shooter for sure .
Will, I have just filed my immigration forms to come live in your backyard! I hope you dont mind? Great Photos, just TOO COOL!!!!!! ATB Colin.
Sweet pics Will! Got a family trip in about 9 days to the beautiful state of CO...just gotta get a fix, can't wait until Sept...I'll surely be on the lookout for Elk. (and I guess we should clean the BBQ off us of before we venture into the mountains?)
Elk, Eire, Colorado is down on the plains and just a stone throw north of Denver. My wife moved me down here because, for some wierd reason (city girl from Chicago), she hates the mountains. The home and the photos I've posted are from a chunk of property I own in Nederland, Colorado. This home is 13 miles west of Boulder and sits at 8400 feet. The property is approximately ten acres and right against a massive amount of national forest (situated at the end of a dead end road). It is so peace there. I absolutely hate that I cannot live there full time anymore...momma wasn't happy. Anyway, the house I built there was entirely design around the moose I shot in Alaska. It is way cool! So seriously, I would consider an Erie to Erie trade, but you'll have to take the wife as part of the deal. She ain't moving! Matt, remember to call me when you get here!
Your Erie is a lot closer to where I would want to be. My wife would be up for the move but right now the job keeps us here. Someday, but until then nice to visit each year in September. We normally go to Montrose but have been to all the small towns south if 70 and off 285.
I'm SO envious Will! The biggest critter we see in our back yard is a robin (and thats one the cat has caught!) Looking forward to meeting all of you guys....
Mark, It is just the opposite way around here. Our robins eat cats...LOL... Dave, we can take a trip down to the house if you desire...it's a 40 minute drive. We may have to anyway if someone bags an elk and we need to get it cooling. I have several freezers there just for this purpose. Elk, Montrose is an awesome area for elk. It is just a long way to drive from my Erie. I can shorten your drive by three to four hours if you're interested. Let's chat.
Not 100% sure on Goolge earth but this link has sattelite images of the area: http://mapper.acme.com/?ll=39.46569,-106.34714&z=15&t=T Edit: copy and paste these quordinates into google earth and it will take you 'almost' to the camp site N 39.46569 W 106.34714
I cant 'officially' get on here from work either. Companies must be loosing so many man hours due to this trip...
Ok, I have to have a long talk with my wife tonight. Someone refresh me on exact dates so I don't have to go back and read this entire thread. I'd never get any work done!
Page 1 has original invite from Will...Sept 18th-26th. I believe quite a few are arriving earlier to acclimate...and because they already have the shakes GOOD LUCK!
First come first serve bear tags go on sale tomorrow (7-13)! Don't forget to get yours if you want one!
