Hey Matt, just to clarify a typo in your magazine, someone (named Russ) referred to me as a "gentleman from Alaska"... I'd hate for anyone here to get the wrong impression! :D

Can't wait to see you guys in September!

So one would fly into Denver, pick up a rental car and meet up with you all? I like to be prepared early. :)

I'm sure I'm going to regret posting this... but I've had milt before and it's really not too bad..

(...there's just no way to make that sound right.)

I brought teriyakied grasshoppers to a group hog hunt I used to go to and they went over pretty well. The squid jerky.... not so much.

Do you guys think I can get away with a draw weight of 45 lbs? Is there a minimum? I'm at 41lbs now. I'll try to get my draw weight up but my shoulder really hates me already.

Correct me if I'm wrong - but I believe CO has only a 35lb minimum draw weight and max let off of 80%...so you're good!

    Christine,

I believe the min. draw weight is 35 lbs. You're good.

VS, I have two 4x4 vehicles. If we can coordinate arrival times, we may be able to move people efficiently. We can stage folks at my home and perhaps create a shuttle service using those who are coming via land.

    Matt, AWESOME!

Thanks Will....that sure would help out the old pocket book! Rental cars are expensive, but I can understand if I need to get one based on the amount of potential people coming out to CO. It would be good if we could coordinate arrival times. I have no problem waiting in the airport for a few hours. Thanks.

Will/Brett - I know it's a long way off and things can change - but as of now I'll be driving out on Saturday the 18th, leaving the wee hours of the morning, probably in Denver area around 4:00pm...I'll help any way I can with transportation...I'll be in the black Jeep Wrangler with the top off:)

OK...maybe I won't bring the Jeep - 14 hours in a softtop on interstate would drive a man mad!

Christine , Taryakied Grasshoppers ... are you serious ? i can hardly wait LOL

Matt - great to have you along and look forward to meeting up at camp .

I got Brits 2 possibly interested too

Don't anybody worry about being too many seriously , i saw Elk ( Cow at 8yds and Big Bull 15yds etc .. ) on all but 3 days , but i saw a Muley's as well and that made up for it :) . The views in the area we are hunting are absolutely breath taking and you will be blown away by the mass of the place . Believe me the b/s , banter and stories around camp will keep you more than entertained and filling your tag will be a bonus . Although i must admit , i'm gonna hunt harder this year .

Oh yeah , if you have any embarrassing nicknames present or when you were a kid .... keep it to yourself :) .

Will , you heard off Tim Butler lately , said he may try to make it if he does not draw his preference area .

Here is a link to the my 2008 Elk camp experience posted on the BBA website : http://www.bowhunters-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=133

I will be flying into Denver via LA so if you guys are going to be meeting up at Denver just let me know when where once you have the dates booked in. I will book flights as early as possible to save on the pocket as well. I reckon its going to be a long eight months LOL

I'm gonna try putting up enough smoked salmon for everyone but we'll have to see how good a return of reds (sockeye) we get. It was pretty slim last year. You might all just have to settle for fresh king salmon and halibut.

How's that supply holding out anyway Will?

You call those Great Lakes things salmon? They're just overgrown sawbellies! :p J/K They're at least fun to catch even if they aren't all that great on the grill.

It's been ages since I had a decent (or any for that matter) steak and kidney pie! I wonder if haggis would be edible if made out of elk rather than sheep?...
