No. The "P" comment was directed to a spammer in our midst, last night. I'll try Doug's links when I get time.

    Will,
Just to make sure I'm clear...the Unit 45 Elk Either Sex are Unlimited over-the-counter? Meaning I can wait until I roll into town, and I'm still guarnteed a tag?

And yes, the fire is starting to burn a little stronger everyday...:)

I just know it's still about 6 months away, and I have about 5 months to be in the shape I want to be in. From there, I'll figure it out. Elk tag paid for, point applied for, now all I gotta do is sit and wait, and continue getting in shape. I've ALREADY studied the maps, so that part has been done....TWICE....once last year, and again this year.

I still need to order BLM maps, but that's no big deal, I at least KNOW what the maps look like at this point.

Curious of your opinion...for footcare - do you prefer a "liner" sock under you wool socks or not? I know most of these type of questions are "whatever works best for you" type of answers...just curious as to any feedback...guess I've never walked sunup to sundown in hunting/hiking boots...

    Matt,
I like a footie style liner sock real thin, then my boot sock over it. I wear 18" X-Scent socks, and they are the MOST comfortable socks I've ever worn. A big part of keeping your boots comfortable is tying them correctly. I put a tie on the lower portion of the boot at the crest of my ankle to keep the foot part of the boot good and snug, RUBBING equal BLISTERS, which equal a ruined hunt!!!

First notice of a hot-spot, get some moleskin/molefoam on it, to protect it, and try to prevent it from getting worse. Also a little foot powder won't hurt anything either.

I just wear a single heavy weight SmartWool hiking/hunting sock. I used to do the liner sock and wool sock routine until I discovered SmartWool. They both work but I find the SmartWool to be a lot more comfortable. A big key to remember is that if you start feeling a hot spot, stop and address it IMMEDIATELY by covering it with moleskin or tape. If you put it off it's going to be a blister and then it's too late.

My deer application is in. I guess that means I'm committed now.

I don't know about the crab but the boat's back in the water as of last Friday and I'm just waiting on a weather window. King salmon are around and a couple 50#'ers got caught last week while I was in NYC.

    Dave,

Randy and Mike are going to try to make it as well. They will be muzzleloader hunting though. I guess they will stick around a touch after their hunt...see if they can't burn down the tents.
