The camp will be somewhere near 9400 feet. We can hunt all the way up to 14000. The vast majority will be between 10,500 and 12,500. Yeah, had bear around the camp...will need to watch our trash. Matt, the bulls will be chasing cows day in and day out. Yes, most of the activity will be evenings. You are looking for that 50 second window of opportunity! 49 here.
Just poured a glass of 14 y/o Clynelish... don't think it's going to be doing a whole lot for movement around here tonight!
There was only one day that i did not wake due to alchohol and that was the final morning , a few of us stayed at camp to pack it away , while the clear headed went hunting for the morning .
Ha ha! No longer a cougar. Guess I need to really get it going, working out that is. Getting used to the thinner air will be my major challenge I think. Last time out when I hit 10,000 ft., that is when I felt deflated after hiking 7 miles. We camped at 8,500 ft.
So I was wondering how welcome an 19 year old would be on this trip. I'd be very interested in driving out there and joining in!
I'm 48 going on 20!! I can't wait to smell that sweet mountain air and feel the sweat on my brow as I climb...and climb...and climb....
Krohboy, From the looks of things, I will greatly welcome a young strong lad. It would be nice to have someone helping with the hauling efforts who doesn't need Geritol! Come on!
I'll be 49 and in good shape when I show up. I will however let anyone tote my elk out that would like to help!
Already, I can't wait to see the pictures from this trip! Hey Will, didn't the bear tags sell out in the first 5 minutes for 45?
I have noproblem helping anybody out with their Elk , just so long as i get a nice juicy steak for my hard work i am counting the days , almost wishing my life away to get this trip started . I hope everybody is as eager in 3 months as they are now .
Now that is some pretty country On another note I just got a DVD called "Big Bulls can come easy" and "Archery Elk, The Dream Hunt. Quite enjoyed it. Didnt relise there was a good bit of Trad in it when i got it.
Stand me beside any of those aspens.......and let me take a photo like that.....and my trip will be considered a "success". Wilbur.... You might wanna let me hunt alone that 1st day. I have a feeling I'll be stopping a lot (to take photos). I can tell by the photos that I'll be overwhelmed. And.....what's with that goofy hat???....lol
I hope that DVD is good , i just ordered it . Jeff i promise you will be as blown away by the scenery as i was , i found it hard to concentrate on the hunt . Every day was different , it really is that breath taking .
The footage is pretty good considering i think it was origionally on VHS. I have a lot of bowhunting DVDs and quite enjoyed this one.
