I just got a nice little surprise in the mail.

Dave sent me a autographed copy of his cd "Dave Bailey's gretest BANJO hits".

Dave you have gotta make room for that banjo in your kit..

Alaskan Air is having a sale to Denver. I think I saw Portland to Denver for $79US one way. Mine dropped $400 from what I priced 2 days ago!!

Will and I are batting around a buff hunt. We'll talk about it more when you're here for sure.

I would love to get a bear tag, but I think there is more chance or a mulie. However, if I bump into a bear I will bag him up and bring him back for you,,catch and release stylee, just keep away from the 'bitey end' ;)

    Steve,
I passed on the bear tag last year, and regretted it greatly when I set up on a small wallow up on a shelf, that had an elk trail coming right past it. I found this spot in the morning, got out, came back into it just before 5 that evening, and sat there about 30-45 minutes, not sure really how long, but not a REALLY long time, when through the timber I see glimpses of light brown moving, the closer it gets, the more my heart pounds, as it gets to a little thicker spot it disappears, and I put my release on my string, and ready myself, then popping out of the thick pines comes a BEAUTY of a Cinnamon Phase Black Bear, and all I can do is sit there and watch for 5 or so minutes while it coats itself in that mud, just about 30yds. from me!!!! And the WHOLE time, I'm thinking I should've taken that advice to "Get a Bear tag, you'll probably see one......" I believe Will, among others told me that last year.....

Will or someone else..............maybe I missed it, but in general what is the average elevation we will be hunting? Just wondering, I'll be 56 when the hunt occurs. Didn't take the time to search it out, but 14,000 ft. is at the peak?

By the way, just wondering how old everyone is?

I'll be 39 in June ( WAS married , but got 2 great kids ) , we hunted upto 12'000ft ( just above an area they called the Bowl ) that was roughly timberline on the Mountian we hunted . Correct me if i'm wrong Will .

    Will

Didn't we have a bear around the tent in the night last time ? .... or were you just joking ?

Cougar? Don't you have to be in your 40's to be a Cougar?

OK Will...help me out here...I have no experience with Elk and/or Mountain hunting.
But for the week of Sept 18-26, 2010...we are looking at week of Full Moon and Out all Night (rising around 4-6pm, setting around 3-6am) ?????

For whitetails around here - that would mean skip morning hunt, little more midday activity, and concetrate on last light for peak movement (actually sounds like description of Elk camp if the single malt gets flowing:))
