Either-sex Elk for me...I want a Muley someday - but think I want to chase them exclusively and maybe a little earlier in the year. If I tag an Elk - I'll be more than happy to get some hiking in, help others pack Elk, and help more around camp...gonna be a ball!
Russ...don't forget - you could get the Cow Elk and Muley tag together...for about same price as Either-sex Elk...more meat and options all around
That would be great if he does come , Hey Cavan bring that video from 2008 that i keep askin for if your lookin lol .
Will. On another note. I just made your silencers Man HOT PINK looks really good:D On second thought I will keep those for Banjo Boy. They should match his pink camo:D
Either sex Elk tag and either a Muley or bear tag, not sure which yet. Which do you guys think I would be better off with? I really do like the sound of having a crack at a bear though. ohhh, pink ASAT camo. I might have to get some for the wife
Mark , i told you not to go through my draws . You really like fuelling the fire don't you lol . Russ I can make my own silencers now , so pass them on too Steve , i'm sure he would appreciate them LMAO . I hear he's gonna hunt in hot pants and tight vest LMFAO .
Based on this story from Will...does anybody plan to pack any type of sidearm or other means of Bear/Lion persuasion during their Elk hunt? There's nothing in IL that can getcha...so I've never had to give it any thought...just curious? ...obviously it's worth packing extra drawers in the backpack
Matt, I never pack anything other than my bow (the extra weight is a burden). Yes, the story recounts a close encounter but keep in mind, I was hunting this bear. I could have easily let this bear know I was there well before the situation escalated. As far as lions...if he wants you bad enough, you will never have the oportunity to pull your gun. You'll be dead in a matter of seconds. They usually break your neck or crush your skull. You will never know what hit you! In my 49 years, I have seen three in the wild. I log 100s and 100s of hours in the woods every year. It is perfectly legal to carry a gun here while hunting- must be clearly visible. It is against the law to use that gun on an animal (deer/elk) during the archery season. You cannot, for example, "finish" the animal with the gun. Grouse season is open during the archery season. A pistol loaded with bird shot is allowed. You must have a small game licenses to participate in this activity.
Will: This may sound sorta "lame-ish" to you bear guys.....but I'm sure my wife's gonna want me to ask (or demand we up her death benefit)..... Do you suggest bear spray; a sidearm......or simply suggest we hunt with someone we know we can outrun? Also....water question: How much do we need to (qty) be looking to carry out with us, each day? I've heard this is a BIG deal.
Not sure what the blokes carry over there but my Badlands day pack that I will be bringing has a 100oz water baldder. I always have it full no matter what the weather. I also cary a very small lightweight water filter for emergencies. I would rather have a bit too much water on me then not enough.
I hear ya, excel. I was looking at the Cabela's all day fanny pack. But all I see is one place to carry one water bottle. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0034320517031a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntt=all+day+fanny+pack&Ntk=Product_liberal&QueryText=all+day+fanny+pack&sort=all&_D%3AhasJS=+&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form23
