I am very tempted to put in for a Mulie tag also. Elk will be an either sex tag and depending how hard the hunting is I may hold out for a bull............we'll see.
Either sex elk tag. Will said something about lots of bears in this unit? I may apply for a bear tag..........last trip to Colorado I had opps for black bear but no tags.
Is the either sex tag not MORE ($$)? Two things come to mind.....lol. 1. Will brought us elk venison when he visited. THE BEST venison I ever tasted. Period. That's why I'm not going to be too particular on what I shoot (if given an opportunity). It's that good! 2. Probably gonna laugh.....but....who's ever seen a COW elk mount?.....lol. You can bet your ass I'll have one if I shoot it!
I don't snore Jeff! Well, maybe I do if I'm on drugs to kill the pain. Hunting in the cold with a busted up ankle was not fun. Hey and on a side note, I will be hunting OTC antelope beginning August 15th. If anyone wants to come early (let's say you're retired and have no place to be), then feel free. Goat tags are $250. I will spend the weekend before the 18th elk hunting and setting up the elk camp. Hell no I'm not going to wait for you guys!
Jeff. I hunt for meat not bone, I have found over the years no matter how you cook antlers or how long you cook them they are still tough and taste like crap:D
Russ: My guess is the bulls have more meat on them than the cows. BUT....like you, I'm an ELK "meat hunter"! (Actually.....I'm an equal opportunity arrow slinger. I will NOT be choosy)
Elk either sex , only because i always set out in my mind that the first Big American Game I would take was going to be Elk and hell yeah that baby will end up mounted ( although i will use one ivory for a pendant ) Bull or Cow . Will What the heck is a veronica ? , i also have one hell of a story about getting my tab material lol . If i say leather , you can guess the rest lol .
