Most of you know that I have a soft spot in my heart for Bowhuntin Turkeys (verman) :tu:
A couple days ago I had a Big bearded Hen and some other Hens show up by one of my stands. She showed again this morning, same woods just different stand.
Fast forward to this evening. I decided to opt for a Turkey hunt close to home by known Tom roost trees, as I had seen 5 large Toms cross the road comming from this woods the other morning. I dont normally use a pop up but did this evening, I like brush blinds better but any who,,5 Hens show up and 2 are Bearded Hens  Thats 3 different Bearded ladies today. I THOUGHT they were kinda rare but im starting to think not now. I really have no intrest in sending an arrow in one as I have already taken one in the past. Ill take a nice Tom any day. So, question is, do you think there that rare or is there something in the water here? OR do I just attract the Ladies with facial hair? :lmao:
Just in case your wondering, it is Fall Turkey season here also.

In my uneducated opinion, they are probably more common than one thinks. I have one on my property. The only reason I noticed her was that she was all that was there to look at. She was out in the field for a good ten minutes before I noticed the beard. Had there been a Tom out there, I'd have likely never noticed.

I see at least one every year in the fall on the property I hunt. They aren't the norm but not that rare in my area anyway. It's really bad when some of them have a longer beard than some of the toms.

I read an article in NWTF several years ago that quoted 10 percent bearded in some areas. Sounded like more in some areas than others. I see them every year and have never considered them to be an oddity or trophy. Not knocking those that do, just in my areas they really are not uncommon. I'll take a nice gobbler over a bearded hen every time.

Back home where I grew up (about an hour and a half away) I never saw a bearded hen. In my current county, I seem to see them all the time. Weird.

Must be something in the water. Maybe thats why your fingers are so fat :whip::moose:

I've only seen one, and I shot her (it was about 10 years ago).

Son of a :tu: So what im reading is Janet Reno is somewhat responsable, the water is contaminated, and it seems there not as rare as I once thought! Thanks for the input!

I snapped this photo for you on my way home from lunch...

8 bearded vermin in my front yard. The rest of the pack went to the left of the willow trees.

These guys are in my yard off and on all day every day.

These guys walk within feet of my house everyday... I would never shoot these guys. I will get better pics next time they are close by. A couple of them have nice long beards, they just aren't all that thick.

I have saw much bigger turkey here though, I will keep an eye out for the bearded female vermin for you now :tu:

I am not saying I would never shoot a turkey while hunting other locations, just not at my house.

I think it may also be Janet Napolitano...she sort of looks like Janet Reno.

That's really scary when you think about it. Bearded hen's and a pair of Janet's that look somewhat like men, complete with facial hair.

Could be space aliens also, but that is way out there.
