My shop just called and my left hand Destroyer 350 is in!!!! JOY!!!:D Now the question is, do I go pick it up tonight or wait until the weekend?
I was thinking the same thing. That is the main reason I ordered mine in a standard color. All black would be cool, but having it in my grubby paws is cooler.
Their closed right now or I would've called them already. They'll just laugh at me and tell me they haven't lost my number.
After seeing Greg's, I am glad I went Black Ops. At least I know the are making LH models. Things are looking up.
Well, I of course picked her up last night.:D After getting the draw length set, the bow timed and all of the accessories put on I only had enough time to shoot and get my peep set and tied in. The nerve of those guys wanting to go home when the place closes. So, I got her home and paper tuned her last night. After getting her shooting bullet holes I did this after 6 arrows with some tweaks to my sight.:D Here are a couple of pics of my new girl just to rub Ben's nose in it a little more too. The pictures are crappy from my cell, but it was getting late and I had to get to bed. A couple of commentaries about the bow: The "buzz" that some people who shot the bow have referred to is real and I believe they are correct in stating that it comes from the Flex Guard. Even with the stabilizer I can feel it. With that said, it does not last for seconds after the shot nor was the Flex Guard visibly moving on my bow as some others have observed. Not saying it didn't happen to others, just my experience. I'll likely put a mini-Limb Jack on it to deaden it the rest of the way. The Flex Guard makes it impossible to mount a QAD rest with the top retainer bar in place. This is a bit annoying since that is my favorite rest. I Dremeled the retainer bar off and lost the "training wheels" on my rest with no ill effects, but I'd rather have kept it intact. The bow holds very steady. I feel like I will be able to shoot this bow very well. If you draw one and the DL is too long for you there will be a perceived hump in the draw cycle. This is not noticeable with the correct DL. It draws very nicely for such a fast bow. It is very quiet for such a fast bow. I was extremely surprised/impressed. I like the grip. I know this is personal and very subjective but a lot has been made of the grip. I like it. It's comfortable and very repeatable. That said, side plates are still my favorite. That's it for now. Once I've had more time to put her through the paces I will do a more comprehensive review with better pictures. I can assure you that it will be perfectly objective as I hold no loyalty or affiliation with any bow manufacturer. Also note that my BOWTECH is hanging next to my MATHEWS and my house has not burned to the ground.:p
Don't feel too Bad Ben! I'm still waiting on my RH Black Ops 350 that will get the Max custom job. So once I get it in I won't have it completed and back together for at least a couple of weeks. I know it will be worth the wait though. I'm anxious to get my Destroyer 340 in Black Ops ordered also. I have other custom plans for it as well. :-) Dan
Congrats on the Bow. I think there will soon be available a dampener for the FLX guard. For some reason the vibe seems to vary from bow to bow. My guess is it could be due to a slightly different cam timing?? Not sure, but the vibe was more noticeable to me on the 340 and I barely noticed at all on the 350, but that made sense to me. I agree with your comments on the draw cycle 200% I'll be looking forward to your review. Glad your house hasn't burned down! ;-) Dan
Thank God I won't be accused (again) of calling someone a "liar". I could visibly SEE the thing vibrating after the shot.....and I could sure as hell feel it. I also said it's still a nice shooting bow. And, I'm sure you'll be happy with it. Congrats on your new purchase, Bry.
Jeff, did you shoot a 340 or 350? The reason I ask is I had looked at the 340 they had in stock and the Flex Guard is longer due to the higher brace. Logic would dictate, the longer it is the more it would flex and vibrate. Since mine is a 350 that might explain the lesser vibration.
Make sure the draw stop pegs that contact the cables are tight. My 340 buzzed a bit too when I got it, but both pegs were a bit loose. I tightened them down and used lock tite after adjusting my draw, and now I have no more buzz. Not calling anyone a liar if they are stating they feel buzz, but I truly just don't feel it with mine and there have been a good 12+ people that have shot it and feel the same way........could be the draw pegs, could be that I'm using a 490+ grain arrow on mine, could be that people have different amounts of tension on the bolt going through the FLX and into the riser..........not sure what's causing some to see this and not for others.
Bry: Good question. Since I shot them both....and had little interest in either (please don't take that as a negative.....just the truth in MY exp....for obvious reasons), I couldn't tell you which. I don't remember "that much" difference, but I have NO reason to doubt your explanation. **Edit - OR Matt's. AGAIN....GREAT shooter. No doubt. They have a winner with this one. Honestly, what happens with a bow after the shot is over-rated (IMO). "Dead in the hand" means very little, to ME, as long as I feel like the critter I'm shooting at can't hear, see or feel it. Congrats, again. Looking forward to seeing it lying across the chest of a big 'ol buck, later this year. **Edit 2 -- Matt/Bry.....I KNOW the arrow I was shooting was a 360gr. arrow....and I shot each bow at +/- 60#'s.
I'll definitely check those pegs as the did have to tweak my DL and may not have tightened everything down all the way. FWIW, my arrows are pushing 440 grains so they eat up a lot of energy as well. I definitely don't take it personally. That's why they make so many bows, there's one for every taste. The Destroyer wasn't yours, that's cool and with what you've progressed toward I'm not surprised. I also agree about the after-the-shot effect. Once the arrow is gone it's kind of inconsequential. Not to mention in the past I was shooting bows with the most radical hatchet cams you could find sporting overdraws and arrows that were 3.5 gpi. You're hand was numb from all of the vibration after a round of 3d. Today's bows are a dream compared to that.
