    No not really...

I went to spot yesterday after work that always produced lots of mushrooms every year. So i get out and start looking and within 2 minutes i find a grey morel decent size about 2.5 inches nothing special. So im thinking that its going to be a great evening of finding mushrooms. WRONG!!! i looked for the next 3 hours and didnt find aymore more. lots of ticks though. This year is sucking for morel's.

I found one Saturday. Only one I've found this spring. We are getting decent day time temps but with the lows at night dropping into the 30's, its not been ideal here.

They are fantastic to eat. People who hate eating mushrooms love them. I try to gather up enough every year to get a few meals out of. and if im doing well i sell some to a resturant i used to work for that buys them for 80$ a gallon. Feel free to Google "morel mushrooms" and you can find a ton of info on them .. growing season / where to look / etc....

They are excellent eats and they are fun to find. If you are able to find one in the woods you usually find several at a time - sometimes 50 or more seperated by just a few yards.

They are easy to cook and are good for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Basically fry them up in butter after battering in flower. Good bit of slat and pepper later and your eating one of the best meals you will have ever had. They go for a lot of money per pound here in Indiana.

Hell I have friends who just like to find them and don't really enjoy eating them or they find so many they gift them away. It's a great way to thank landowners, hunting friends and friends or family! They will love you for it. Lol

They used to be my favorite thing to eat but you have to be careful they are one of those foods that if you eat too many or a few that are too rich you will get sick on them and you will never be able to eat them again thats what happened to my dad and me and I've heard from a few other people that have had it happen but they're always fun to find!

Could they be mistaken for poisonous ones? Is there a mushroom similar to its appearances?

Yes, they are called false morel's and are a redish color. However, even though they are poisonus some people still eat them.

They are also very rare and only found in certain climates/regions. A lot of false fungi in the woods that could be mistaken for a morel.
