I got it done last night about 5ish, I shot what I thought was a doe, flipped it over to field dress it and AYO!!!!!! I was starring at a fuzzy pair that that would make Ron Jeremy jealous He didnt even have bone showing on top at all, the farmer whos land I hunted said he understood, since I agreed not to shoot anything on his property that wasnt 8 or better for bucks. Long story short I was treed up 20 yards from standing corn, 5 deer came out 15 yards on my down wind side.....of course....and they all got a whiff and turned around. This little guy swung out wide and made it to the corn and started chowing down, he didnt realize all the other deer backed out, maybe he was too hungry, so grabbed my bow quickly and ranged him at 47yrds..........side note, by this time I was almost passed out, my breathing was fast and shallow and I tried to inhale deep and slow but my body wasnt having it. Im adding this in to see if that is normal, this is my second deer ever and I didnt have that reaction the first time........I waited until he turned broadside, pulled back and held my breath, aimed behind the shoulder and released, I was soooo focused at that point. He slightly quartered to before the arrow struck.......CRACK, it sounded like a 2by4 being snapped in half and he droppped, spined. I lowered my bow and climbed down hurriedly and at 5 yards put another arrow through the heart/lungs. I was skunked last season and have 5 hunts in this one, arrowing my deer 2 days before our gun season starts.
Nice work! I'm jealous. I got skunked last year too so really hoping I can shoot something for some meat...anything. Enjoy that venison.
I almost passed out shooting this small deer, I can only imagine what I'm going to do if a huge coat rack walks out in front of me
