This Saturday I will be volunteering as medical staff for the badger honor flight. This flight is for veterans who will be making the trip to D.C. to visit all the memorials. We have multiple buses and will have a police escort throughout the city. I’ve been told it’s a very emotional and humbling trip. I’m excited to be a part of the flight and to help out the vets while we are there. I’ll be sure to post pictures after the trip. Thank you to all of those who have served and are currently serving. If you don’t know about the flight. I will put a link below. They have flights all across the nation. If you’re interested there could be one near you. It is free of charge to all vets. https://www.badgerhonorflight.org Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's awesome. Huge thanks to anyone who has served or is serving in our military to protect our country, freedom, and our way of life.
Well it was a long but amazing day. I got to the airport at 4am we finally got to DC about 930. We had a police escort all day. It was non stop movement all day but well worth it. We got back into Madison about 10pm. The welcome home was amazing. I’ll be going through pics soon and will post some later. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The pictures will be in ordered of how we saw the monuments throughout the day. My favorite thing I saw was probably the changing of the guards. They also had a reef ceremony while we were there. On the flight home we surprised the vets with one last mail call. Family, friends, members of their community, and people they didn’t even know sent letters. It was a emotional time for a lot of them. The vet that next to me on the plane got this letter (last pic)and we couldn’t help but laugh. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Awesome stuff! Like Sota said, Thanks for serving those who served, and thanks for your service as well. (Fire fighter, emt [i think?]) I know you guys get forgotten about a lot, but are always the first ones there when needed, running into burning buildings while everyone else is running out.
Thank you. I’m currently working full time as a EMT. Still looking for the fire or police job though. It’s tough for sure but just need to keep applying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's awesome. I rode to DC for the rolling thunder event and it was amazing. Rode with the Marines MC out there and went to the Marine museum and as an Army guy, it was amazing. The ride, the sites, everything was amazing. I had gone to DC for my 8th-grade class trip and it didn't really hit home back then. But after serving and seeing the Vietnam wall and the other memorials, it really hits you hard seeing all of the names on that wall. If you have not been to one of these events, it is definitely something you need to do. The line outside of the Pentagon just to get into the parking lot: One of the many parking lots:
