So this morning I hunted an area that I almost always have activity in. I saw nothing at all except what I think is a fisher. He was all over the place for a few hours. Does anyone have experience with them? Will they keep deer away? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
That is definitely a fisher. They wont keep deer away in my experience however they may snack on anything you shoot. The ones in my area eat feral cats along with other small rodents etc Sent from my SM-G935R4 using Tapatalk
Funny you say that. I used to see feral cats around there and haven’t seen any since last year. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I had a feral cat on trail cam....10 minutes behind it was a fisher. Half an hour later fisher is going opposite direction... cat never seen again...plus confirmed this with some other experts Sent from my SM-G935R4 using Tapatalk
I see fishers from the stand or on cam a few times a year and they never seem to bother the deer, so I wouldn't worry about them. I've even had deer on camera feeding, a few minutes later a bear with cubs feeding, and then a few minutes later the deer feeding will wander past the camera again, so if bears aren't a big issue, the fisher is fine. Unless you're dealing with the rare fisher giganticus that exists only on the MO/KS state line in Covey's neck of the woods; then your deer are toast.
If I was you, I wouldn't do anything different other than, contact a trapper who has a fisher tag. They'll be all over that!
