Only a couple more months! We can make it! I can't wait til turkey season this year. I'm bound and determined to harvest a turkey with my bow, but I got a second permit on the way so that I can at least have a chance with the shotgun as well. I need to practice shooting out of the blind sitting down though... maybe that's something I can do with this off-time.

Joe, it's not that I don't have anything to get out in the woods for. I used to do that before kids and a wife. I did get out Sunday afternoon and just do some walking. That was nice.

I am STILL trying to make amends for last hunting season. Giving my wife a lot of time away to get out (she is 7 months pregnant right now), catching up on projects I neglected at home, and of course kissing a$$ for next hunting season. I'm not even going on my annual spring camping trip.

Also, this is always an extremely busy time of year for work.

Add up all those things and it is just work and be home for me this time of year.

I find this time of year is perfect for cutting firewood. Perfect temps so you don't get overheated, gives you plenty of time to season the wood for next year, no bugs, and cures cabin fever.

Yeah, that too. My dad and I cut firewood almost every weekend, but we're burning it this year. Most of what we cut has been down for a year or two so it's already seasoned. We usually let it sit for a couple weeks though and let it dry out though. It's almost always a toasty 74-76* in our house.

One thing I have been doing to keep my sanity is to take a trip to the bow shop once a week and shoot for an hour. Just 1 hour a week for myself isn't too much to ask is it?
