Now...I have not always hated Halloween. But at this time of my life, Halloween blows. Halloween is awesome for these groups of people: Kids - get to dress up + candy = awesome Young adults - chicks dress up like s**** + lots of alcohol = awesome Adults with kids - get to dress up your kids + steal your kids candy + see them have fun = awesome But what about the married with pregnant wife, all your friends have kids too young to participate in Halloween age group? For these people, Halloween blows. Also, just a note for any kids that come to my house after 8 pm without a costume; When I don't give your lazy *** candy, if you touch my goddamn pumpkins, I will find you, and I will kill your entire family.
No kids come to my house. It is at the end of a road, by the woods, no street lights, dark and scary.
We take our kids to a friend's house that has this whole setup for kids every year, so I don't have to pass out candy. Halloween doesn't bother me. Christmas is a different story. I hate the Christmas season. Not Christmas day, but Christmas season. Hate it. Like really hate it. Now I"m in a bad mood.
Our neighbors usually gather between our homes, have a bonfire, sometimes a meal (if Halloween falls on a weekend/Friday night) and make it a social event. Neighbors are a diverse mix (Sr citizen, 3 young families, 2 families with older kids and an older couple, kids and grandkids). A few drinks, kids getting sugar rushes, social event...
This is why I now think Halloween blows...as kids, we looked forward to an entire day of fun. Get dressed up in our costumes, head to school, and have fun activities all day at school. My daughter is in first grade. She has this cute hot pink and silver supergirl costume...and the kids are not allowed to dress up for school anymore. They are allowed to dress in black and orange today for their "fall festival"...can't even call it Halloween!
I used to love Halloween and Christmas....now after two deployments, one leading to a divorce.....no kids either....I just avoid the holidays and act like it's just another day. Bah Humbug
^That does blow. I loved halloween as a kid, even tho' I didn't even eat 90% of the candy. It was fun at school and it was fun out on the streets. We didn't have a designated trick or treat time and we just off on our own. No street lights, no sidewalks.... Where I live now, we haven't had any trick or treaters show up. We're too far off the road... can't even see the house from the road. I didn't even bother buying treats this year. (uh oh, maybe hordes will finally show up... gah, I'd have to be the weird house that gives out coins or pencils or apples) Where I lived before I moved here, I was right across the valley from the 'projects' so we did get some kids from over there. They didn't have costumes. I never denied them candybars (I give out the good stuff!), in fact I felt bad for them. They probably had some crackhead ho for a mom who didn't even get them costumes and the baby daddy was probably off with his gang or already in jail. My idea of celebrating halloween now.. is to go hunting.
I still say... If parents would just feed those little buggers... they wouldn't have to go out begging for food. I haven't seen a Trick or Treater since 2002. When we moved back to the wife's home stomping grounds. Too many pervs and nut jobs already out there to let the kids run loose. As to Christmas... Charles Spurgeon, perhaps the greatest preacher ever... loathed it too.
Someone tell me if this is a **** move I let the neighborhood kids pick their candy, but I hand the non-neighborhood kids their candy.
Nope I used to do the same Hooker, that way the neighborhood kids don't think you are an *** and end up TPing and egging your house! LOL
Or insulin. I'm in the group now that likes Halloween. Wyatt is 5.5 and Zeviah is 2.5. We're going to Wyatt's Halloween parade at school early this afternoon and then taking them Trick or Treating in a neighborhood not too far from here. They have a blast, so we enjoy it.
I'm still in the intoxicated ****s age group so pipe down on all the negativity for a bit! We rented out a Mexican restaurant to stay open 3 hrs past closing for us to have a costume party, bartenders stayin behind. Had about 150 show up last year, who knows this year being the night before Bama at LSU.
