I hate car salesman. I have been trying to buy a new White Toyota Tacoma, 4x4, TRD OffRoad package for quite a while now. I know what I want, and I am willing to wait to get it. So this past week, I finally found a dealer that claimed that they could get one, and at a great price. About $700 cheaper than everyone else on similar trucks. The truck was in San Antonio, so they had to trade for it, but I told them that if it's the truck, then go ahead and trade for it, b/c I'll buy it as soon as it comes in. Well they call me today and tell me that the truck is in. Awesome. I'm getting a new truck today... As soon as I drive up to the dealership, I see a truck sitting out front, a white, Toyota Tacoma, 4x4, but not TRD OffRoad package. I think to myself "That better not be my truck". Sure enough, that's the truck. When I tell them that it's not the truck I want, they adamantly tell me that I never mentioned anything about a TRD OR package, which I most certainly did. I have the e-mails to prove it. Then after I tell them that I do not want the truck b/c it's not the truck I want, the Manager goes on to tell me that I "gave him my word that I would buy the truck" and that "my reputation in this town would soon be ruined". Seriously? You got the wrong truck, dumbass. I apologized anyways, and then the jackass went on to say "Sorry doesn't cut it when you break your word". I immediately just laughed and walked out. I wanted to punch the dude in the face though.
Yeh, I'd go back tomorrow and show him the e-mails for SURE. Then punch him in the face. LOL j/k on the last part. Car salesman are ok, they're just trying to make a living, but that guy you confronted is just out of line.
Oh don't worry, I'm forwarding him the e-mails this morning. And sorry for make such generalizations about car salesman. I was just severely POed last night. I don't hate all of them. I just really despise that car salesman.
Sorry to hear that Hook. Just keep looking, you'll come across it sooner or later. In college I was a porter (the guy who made sure the lot was strait, ect) and every salesmen there treated me like their slave. I don't mind doing my job and even going a little further, but when they all have you washing their personal cars because "its your job" it tends to piss me off a bit. Especially when the owner comes out and yells at you for washing a "personal vehicle".
Don't worry, I hate care salesman too. I've never met one that didn't make me want to punch them in the face at some point. Same goes for service writers for that matter.
I wouldn't just forward the e-mails... I'd personally walk them into his office and demand an apology. Then, I'd make a call to HIS boss, and then I'd find out who the regional supervisor was or someone that was affiliated with the company at the national level or within Toyota... It's things like that that make me go ballistic and they're lucky they've got a job when I'm done with them.
So after I left, another salesman called me to tell me that they found a silver truck matching the description of the truck I want, but it was too expensive. I told him that was entirely too much and I wasn't interested. Well they called me back this morning, but I ignored the call, but they still left me a voicemail telling me that they could sale me the silver truck for $1000 cheaper than what they told me yesterday. I got them bastards crawling into my hands now.
Just print the emails take them up there and politily show the gentleman he was mistaken after he gives you an apology you be the real gentleman and say thankyou...then tell him to kiss your satchel and if he make one remark about ruining your rep you will come back rip his head off and drop a duece down the cavern you made! Do all that in private after you confront him about the events in front of his boss!:d
Not all salesman are a-holes, but when it comes to car salesman they are a different breed. They are all a bunch of slimey bastards. (Sorr Fitz! :D ) Someday when I can order a vehicle online and it's delivered on a truck to my home or place of business, it will be a happy, happy day.
I would have had more fun than that with them. I would have wasted a couple hours taking a test drive, asking for a car fax, disagreeing on price, finding nicks, dings, pulls to the left and all sorts of things. Then I would have showed them a couple emails and walked out laughing the whole way.
Easy now we wouldn't want to be like some of the people stereotyping all of us hunters just because some are idiots :d :d :d :d Just kiddn'...but we (dealers/salesmen) do have a hard battle to fight because of ALOT of dealers/salesmen. HOOK...sorry to hear about your really bad experience. You would think that as bad as sales are right now they would really be trying to please you to get a sale, I mean it sounds like they have a DONE DEAL as long as they just get the truck in??? I don't understand them.
