I took my five year old great nephew with me to check my trail camera for the first time and when we got about thirty yards away he said I see it and ran over to it. Mind you this is in thick woods. I'm thinking it was because it is in our line of sight. I thought if it were up high people wouldn't notice it as easily. So I made up this little mount and took two sticks and went back out into the woods.

The two sticks got me up about 10 feet and I used two sheetrock screws to fasten it to the tree.

This is what it looks like with the sticks gone.

If someone wants to steal it they will have to work for it. I took me 15 minutes to put it up. I think I will get better pictures from this vantage point also.

Good idea I was thinking of doing something simular since I set up on public land. If I set it high enough even if someone see's it they may not wast there time on it. Of course if they really wanted too....I hate people.

looks good, I used to carry my ladder with me and elivate the cam's and then widge a stick between the cam and tree to get the angle right.

Smart, interested to see what the pics look like from that vantage point. Good idea though.

I have thought about doing that since I only hunt public land and your not allowed to put cameras out figured that might keep anyone from finding them.

Yeah, post some of the pics. I'm interested too to see what they look like.

Do you leave the sticks on the tree or do you take them when you leave? I feel like if you leave them they will stick out far more than just camera would

I started experimenting with putting my camera up high and angling it down on fence crossing this summer. In 3 months of photos I don't have a single one where the deer is looking at the camera. Unlike the rest of my cameras at waist level where every other photo they're staring right into it.

I'll be using the Pine Ridge AT-5 from now on to mount my camera up at about 6 to 8 feet, angled downward. :tu:

This camera is about 5 feet off the ground and nobody has looked at it yet.

Yup, I've only had this camera a week and I noticed also that the deer are looking at the camera but they don't seemed spooked. My main reason for doing this is to deter thievery.

Thats a good idea. I'm not so much worried about them being stolen, but I like the idea of getting it out of the deers face. I wonder if there is some sort of universal mount for cams without a swivel already built into them. I guess you could rig something, but would be nice if there was such a thing,
