    I know we plant purple tops up here in west U.P. and they vary from 1/2 that size to 3x that size...deer don't seem to like them big though so we have to chop em up...turkeys make them look like an hour glass after the first couple frosts and deer will eat the greens but prefer corn, beets, apples before the turnips.

    I have a tiller on my tractor and tilled the ground then spread the seed

    This is a mix from Frigid Forage (Wildgame Buffet)
