1. I have my rig paper tuned shooting bullet holes, I don't do any other tuning, don't know really how. But it has always worked out to where I can shoot rage heads, field points, and a slick trick and have the same POI out to 30 yds. after that I don't try it, I wont shoot past 30. Anyways, this new bow I have is a single cam parker Ultralite 30+. I have it set on 69.5 # for a 70# bow. It is just where it ended up but it is maxed out. I can shoot FP, and Rage perfect to about 30 yds, then I wanted to try the Ol 100 gr 3 blade Muzzy...well out to 20 yds its dead nuts, but 22-25 yds 5-6" low and right. every time. is it the head? is it my form? or the arrow too stiff? 26.5" throat of nock to end of shaft ICS Hunter 340's. I usually shoot the 400's in easton, but this is what my shop recommended..any suggestions..should I try some slick tricks and see what gives? I know that in the past the Muzzy can be a beast to get to fly right, but 25 yds is not that far. 2. I noticed some serious wear on my string at the lower cam. What is the deal with this?
Nobody? I am not sure, but I do believe I have read before that hard single cam bows will get normal wear in this area of the string. Actually, it may be more of a serving separation than wear. Anyone with a Parker or Single cam mathews seen this? this a a new bow, not even two weeks old.
Sounds like you need to broadhead tune the bow. Fixed blades will quickly highlight any tuning issues in the form of poor flight or not hitting with field points. That is serving wear, either from excessive cam lean and rubbing, or an aggressive bend at a post on the cam.
yeh something aint right here. 20 yards is dead nuts, past 20 yards it's way off. Either it's my form, the bow not truly tuned, or I am over spined with these 340's and short 26.5" arrows..as far as the serving goes, I dont know. could be any of those. I can I tell cam lean?
I would get to a good shop and have em properly tune the bow. The wear on that string makes me nervous especially with how new the bow is. I'm afraid of what it'd look like after 500 arrows through it. Id definitely get that looked into. I don't think over spined arrows would cause those type of accuracy issues. I know plenty of folks, including myself and my wife, that shoot over spined and when the bow is tuned have no issues with arrow flight. Good luck getting it sorted out!
yeh I am more concerned with the serving. I have seen separation before with other bows, but not where this is. I checked best I could for any burs in the cam but didn't find any. Bow has roughly 250 shots through it. When I left the shop the other day after installing the LD Pro V it was shooting bullet holes and I could get those muzzy to fly with my FP at 25-30 yards. How much difference can 5 yards make with bad form in the flight of an arrow with a fixed head like a Muzzy?
