I kid you not... I get 3-5 political calls a day... mostly from the Republicans as I sent them money a couple times. Then they got rediculous. I get calls now from every right wing and tea party off shoot there is. Usually I get at least 2 or 3 from the republican national committee. I got so fed up with it I stopped talking to them all many many months ago.... but they still call. Now they're even sending literature to my wife who passed away in Maryland in 2006. She never lived in NY. I have caller ID on my TV screen so I can see who it is. I ignore, or I pick up say hello and with the usual pause before the computer tells one of them I answered... I hang up. Sometimes I just pick up hang up. Once in a while I answer and wait for them... when they come on I say "Hold one please"... and I lay the phone down and do something else until I'm sure they hung up. I have a new technique I like. Before I answer I turn the TV to the Spanish Channel. I answer "Hola" with the TV blairing Spanish. They hang up. LOL I'll be glad when this election ends. A person shouldn't be pestered as much as I am. DO NOT CALL LIST.... is a joke.

You might get a spanish speaking caller. Instead use: Moe-she Moe-she (the Japanese way of answering the phone) or Yo-bow-say-yo (the Korean way of answering the phone).

The politicians wrote themselves in a loophole to the Do not call list, I believe non-profits and survey companies are also excluded, on land lines-additional regulations apply to cell phones

Unfortunately, the National Do Not Call Register only prevents telemarketers. Polls, Charities and political parties can still call. Imagine Congress forgetting to include political parties/polls,, and charities from entities that are blocked by signing up for the Do Not Call Register.

I have a friend who uses his answering maching. It says... "Thank you for calling the (last name) foundation, if you would like to make a donation please stay on the line and someone will be with you shortly" He says everyone hangs up immediately.

I might have to try a variation of that. It's 3 PM and I've already gotten 5 of those calls today from "Wash D.C.". The ones I was here for got the Spanish speaking TV shows. They hang up immediately. Not a second hello or anything. They just hang up.
