Ok well today I shot my first 3D event. All went well besides being a little hot. Untill about half way through the second range. I brought my bow up and drew back when I heard a noise that I have never heard before when I hit the trigger. I DRY FIRED MY BOW!!!!!!! :jaw: I was hot and tired and probably dehyrated and I could have swore I had knocked an arrow but I didn't. I was shaking and freaked out. My buddy I was with looked over the bow and so did I and no noticeable major damage could bee seen. So far it looks like I only lost the retainer clip for the lower axle but I'm going to take it in and have the shop look over it real good. I did finish the shoot and the bow didn't even make a creak or any noise.

I cant believe I did this and I can tell you that if I have anything to say about it this will be the last time! I had a great time at the shoot and I plan on attending more. I guess this is just a lesson learned.

From now on, you will be trying to nock a second arrow!! Lol I haven't dry fired one yet doing that but I have pulled a second arrow and tried to nock it. That's pretty embarrassing when you are shooting with seasoned 3D veterans.

Here is what I do to ensure that never happens and it helps my concentration and nerves (when I'm a little under pressure) as well. I have a routine. I walk up to the stake, judge my distance first thing, then nock an arrow. Once nocked I glass it to see where the 12 is and pull down the bino's fin my spot, attach my release put my eyes right back to my spot turn, draw, aim and shoot. I do this same exact routine every time now. It has helped me.

Anyways, glad your bow seems to be ok and welcome to the 3D addiction. What was your score??

Yea Stick I'll have to work on that. My total score was a 531. My buddy I was shooting with and his wife said it was pretty good for my first shoot. And after the dry fire I was shaking like a leaf so I'm sure I could do better.

How many targets?? 60?? Most of ours are 20 with an even score being 200. We will have a 30 every now and then. I think the state is going to be 30.

Kinda! Its more like 60 arrows. Some targets have one 3D target that you shoot 2 arrows at and some have 2 targets that you shoot 1 arrow at each target. And scoring is 12,10,8,5. This was my first one so I'm still learning the setup. Here is the website for the shoot. http://www.lbl-archery.com/

OK well good news is my bow is just fine! After a dry fire all I did was loose a clip for the cam. Thank god nothing more! This thing is strong. But I can tell you that this will never happen again!

Don't you shoot a Heli-M? Glad your bow is ok. That would scare the **** out of me.

Yep it is a Heli-M. Thanks and it did scare the crap out of me. I think it took like 2 hours for me to stop shaking.

Did that once setting up my camera on my bow. Took a perfect DRY shot:(.

    These bows are tough.
