After spending time talking to Bruce regarding my tuning issues with the new Bowtech Insanity, I checked closely for contact issues and there aren't any. That part has been fixed. I've been trying to identify why I'm getting wild arrow fishtailing. I shot through paper and I can't move the rest far enough to the right to eliminate the tail-left tear. When I get close the launcher on QAD Ultra Rest is hitting the riser. I'd need to move it into the riser to get a good tear. I tried shooting bare shafts along with fletched shafts. At 10 yards the bare shafts impact about 4" right and stick out at about a 15 degree angle to the left. Am I missing something obvious or is there just something terribly wrong with this bow? Perhaps I should add that this is a 70# agressive cam bow with a 29" draw length. I'm shooting GT Velocity Pro shafts (.300 spine) with a 125 grain field tip.
You may have some cam lean. Twisting the yokes might help. Try a lighter spine. Probably not the issue but easy to try. Also check the timing. Try different grip styles to see how much it changes. It could be torque. I've not tuned one of these yet so im just referring back to my general knowledge of possibilities.
It could be cam lean. I shot my old 7595's (.340 spine), same length with 250 grains up front and got the same tear. That arrow should have been underspined with that much weight up front. I'm being careful with my grip. I'm starting to wonder what the return policy on bows is at Macks Prairie Wings.
Some bows are to fast for the arrow rest....just a thought. This happened to my first Revolution rest, the arrow eventually shattered it. This something to consider.
At what "should" be centershot, the tail left tear is about 1 3/4 inches. With the launcher right up against the riser, the tear is still a little over 1/4" tail left. Also, I think that if I were torquing the bow, the tear would vary in width, but it doesn't.
I was beginning to think that, but I'm getting good drop times and good fletch clearance now. This is now a bow problem.
From the info given, I would try looking at cam lean and doing some yoke tuning. Another thing to try is a different rest.
Don't move the rest from centershot to correct the issue. That creates more problems than it fixes. Im leaning toward cam lean( pun intended). Lol Or maybe a timing issue or both. Check your specs and timing. I know a really good tuner(world class) not real far from you with a hooter shooter if it comes to that.
Set centershot of the rest with french tuning and see how the tear looks then. If the tear is bad at this point, there are other issues.
What's "not real far"? As it is I'm looking at driving three hours back to Stuttgart, AR to try to get someone to fix this.
If I had a press I'd be giving that a try. From my perspective it's the only possible answer to what I'm seeing happen.
Madisonville ky.( manitou to be exact) If custom strings are in your plans then he can take care of all at once.
tfox is probably right with the cam lean. that was a very good thought. hope that guy gets you squared away.
