I don't know if I'm more po'd at the dog or my wife! Even though many people have told her not to feed her lap dog table scraps and other human food, she has kept doing it. Now she's gone for a couple days and the freaking dog won't eat because I won't give him the extras and he won't stop yapping and whining. I put him out in the converted garage because I don't want to hear it anymore and if I do, I'll either have a stroke or take it out on him even though I am 100% sure she is at fault.
Crate the dog in the garage so you don't have to listen to it and after a few days of not eating he will eat the dog food. I agree it's your wife's fault also...
The dog is already spoiled and your wife will be back to continue to spoil it. Accept the fact that you are screwd and feed the dog human food. You and the dog will both be more tolerable. Too late to fix the dog. That's what I would do.
When you're wife comes back..............crate her in the garage with the dog !!!!!!! Put em both on a punishment
A friend of ours told her a long time ago that if she hated the dog, feed it human food and it will die much sooner than maintaining it on a healthy dog food. For a while she did that but once again fell back in her old ways. The dog is now begging from us when we eat dinner at the dining table and she gets upset with me when I scold the dog for begging. He'll stay out in the garcave until she gets home and then I'll give her the news that she has full care of the dog from now on and get's to take him with her on her trip to Chicago at the first of next month. We'll see how much she likes that.
You might as well accept it. If you can't stop your wife from feeding it scraps, theres no point in you stopping yourself. When she comes back, she'll start it again. I don't know if you can ever wean your dog off table scraps once its started.
My girlfriend, her dog, and I all went to sonic last night ordered the dog a plain cheese burger and then we stoped at the dairy barn on the way back home to get milkshakes and the dog got its own bowl of ice cream...
My wife used to think it was cute and harmless to feed our dog real food till the dog started helping itself to whatever was laying on the counter, table ,etc. then she woke up and the dog got cut off. My dog will still run to the kitchen every time she hears the bread box open. Lol
This will sound more harsh in writing than intended, but are you for real? I don't necessarily disagree with your viewpoint and assessment,(I dont want a dog in the house period), but it's not all about you. Obviously, your wife gets enjoyment out of spoiling the dog and you should respect that. I am sure you have plenty of annoying habits and things that irritate the hell out of her but she overlooks because she loves you. Lighten up and take care of the dog the way she would do if she were there. And all of the justification about the dog living longer of fedrerly...so what, give me a break for crying out loud.
