http://www.pope-young.org/bowhunting_equipment.asp the above link is to the pope and youngs club page that defines the equipment allowed to be used and still be eligable for entry into their record books. the subject has been brought up in a few threads. in case you were wondering. oh, one tid bit, those fancy lighted sight pins we all love... according to pope and young, its not a hunting bow if it has one on it.
WOW.... Did not know all that. I guess my sight light isnt allowed. What is the axle to axle on the z7???
ill be the first to admit i dont care about trophies. i simply put this up for those that care to look into it. if its not for you, then thats fine too. thought it would help some people.
I'm not a trophy hunter either. Its very interesting. I just dont get some of those restrictions. What makes the z7x any different from a hoyt or bowtech? nothing. Rules are rules though.
I know there are guys who are trying to get in the record books and good luck to them, I wana fill my freezer and get some pics
I do love a full freezer. The memories beat all tho. My fiance decided that she would hunt with me if I bought her a muzzleloader. Cant wait to make those new memories afield with her!!!!
the wife and i are going bow hunting next year, it took me almost 2 years together(one dating, one married) to find out shes a bow hunter. i knew she was a hunter, but i didnt know she was a bow hunter, and ill tell you what, she can out shoot me any day of the week with a bow. i cant wait till next year either.
she's been shooting ever since she was a kid, i on the other hand, waited till i was 25 to get my first bow. so there is definitely a small handicap on my part. oh well, im getting better. i try to get out at least 3 times a week and shoot my bow. im also thinking of buying her a new bow. her's is a little dated. guess ill have to try and "persuade" her into looking at some new bows, i know it will be oh so hard to do...
METHOD OF HARVEST The Boone and Crockett Club, because it recognizes the trophy and not the hunter or owner, accepts hunter-taken trophies harvested with: firearms, including muzzle loaders, pistols, shotguns, etc.; archery tackle, including compound bows and traditional archery equipment; crossbows; etc. All hunter-taken trophies are eligible for entry into the Club’s Awards Programs and records books, so long as the equipment is legal in the state or province where the animal is harvested. (Pope and Young Club only accepts trophies taken with a bow.) The Boone and Crockett Club, because it recognizes the trophy and not the hunter or owner, also accepts trophies that are picked up (e.g. winter kills, road kills, etc.) and trophies of unknown origin (e.g. garage sales, taxidermists, attics, etc.). Trophies accepted with unknown locations of harvest are eligible only if they are for a category without a boundary. this was taken from the boone and crockett page. just in case your entry isnt accepted by P&Y. http://www.boone-crockett.org/bgRecords/records_policies.asp?area=bgRecords#method
