So what say you. For the past year I declared the Tiger is dead and gone. So did you. But... with 2 rounds in Africa... the boy seems to be on a good track. He's hitting fairways, greens and today made some putts. I'm not ready to declare him the player he once was.... BUT... he sure has steadied the ship a bit. We'll find out tomorrow, or early in the AM whatever your fancy is. IF he moves on moving day... well I'm personnally going to be very impressed. I don't think the worlds number one players lack luster play is just a happening. I'm almost believing the boy is feeling the heat of the Tiger. It's not a done deal.... but the young guns are noticing. What say you oh mighty Bhunting golfing expert? I defer to your wisdom and insite. You know the mental crap.... I just see the final score. Speak to me.
Well looks like old Tiger grabbed the lead after 3 rounds. Tommorow should be interesting. We all know the ending to the story if he had a lead going into sunday back in the day. We will learn a lot about where his mental aspect of his game is tommorow. His game does look good. 66 is his lowest round in a tournament since the Masters last year. Dude is hitting fairways and greens. Looks like his putter is coming around. I must say his game and swing looks as good as it has in awhile. That being said. Everyone knew he was going to figure out how to hit a golf ball again someday. The real challenge for Tiger is getting that killer instinct and mental edge. Everyone on tour can strike a golf ball and putt. Very few had what he used to have. The only thing that will answer that is time. Personally I don't think he will ever get that edge back. I've always said he's going to win again. He's going to go through stretches of playing good again. He is a professional golfer. Same as everyone else out there. Although he did have unique ability and talent within his swing, that's ultimately not what separated him from everyone else. Tommorow will be a big step for Tiger....... or a slight setback. I also don't put much stock into events like this. I know it's a "tour" event. Yes there are great golfers and world ranked golfers out there. But I want to see his name on the first page of leaderboards in the US on the PGA on a consistent basis before I'm ready to raise an eyebrow.
Well, it isn't looking to good for him right now. He's 2 back now on 11with a 20 foot putt for par. He hit one green on the front side. He's started smacking clubs into the ground and cussing. I'd say he isn't a happy camper. Meanwhile, Rock just keeps hitting greens and fairways. Wow...Tiger made the putt. Rock missed a closer birdie putt. Tiger still just 2 down.
I know you to guys talk about golf more than anyone, so what is your opinion on this. Purse for that event was a little over 2 million, Tiger was given 2 million by the event just to be there. I saw that on Sportcenter and just took their word for it. I keep hearing the game is as strong as ever, the young guns are ready to carry the sport, etc...while Tiger will eventually get older and fade away and the game will go on, it appears the sponsors may not see it that way. Giving him as much as the winner, just to be there. What are your thoughts on this? I also understand this was the norm at his peak, but now...
He is still the biggest icon in golf right now. Not sure that will ever change no matter what his performance level is. He's probably the greatest to ever play the game. And when you have that title, people want a piece of you. You want him to succeed or fail, but either way he's still marketable. Kind of like Tim Tebow lol. He has absolutely nothing to do with football since he lost in the playoffs, yet ESPN can't go a day without talking about him because people (except me) will tune in.
